NA1GB "The Green Bean" Does Field Day 2019
The Green Bean took a different route in participating in Field Day 2019 as sponsored by the ARRL and operated by K1UR and K1NR. Over the past dozen years all the New England states had been visited and lots of interesting operating locations. For a change, we decided to just participate with our local club at a location little more than a mile from home.
The FARA Field Day was held at the McAuliffe Branch Library on Water Street in Framingham. This is a nice public location with the ability to attract public attention.
Operations were limited to library hours, 2 to 6 pm. Band conditions were quite poor on all bands though old reliable 20 and 40 meters did provide some contacts. The Green Bean station operated mostly on 20m phone and the "1 element yagi" worked well.
After the end of FARA Field Day and quick dinner, we headed to Crow Island in Stow, a new location for amateur operations, and use the Green Bean as an operating location along with a nice wire antenna already installed on site. The antenna worked well on 75 and 40 meters.
