Looks like Gaétan even americanized the observation car! Look at the rear light housings!
BTW: Tom Price's CZ set incudes everything in the second photo, except for the F7A and F7B......I found those on the forums....
Take care!

Hey
Glad you're enjoying the Rio Grande Zephyr! I'm already working on an improved version of it! I'm putting the finishing touches on a second Rio Grande Zephyr domed coach, the "Silver Pony", right now. I'm also going to do a better "Silver Banquet" diner to replace the current one, and hopefully adding the ability to change passenger views just like on Gaetan's VIA and Harold's Canadian sets.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-18-02 AT 06:22PM (EDT)[p]Hello
A steam generator is a converted diesel engine that does exactly as as the name implies, it produces steam. It was used on the Rio Grande Zephyr (as well as other passenger trains), because like other coaches of the era, it relied on steam heat to heat the passenger compartments. With steam engines no longer pulling these trains, a source of steam had to found for heating, hence the invention of the steam generating diesel engine. As for the combine, it is painted a different color because unlike the other cars, the combine was not an original California Zephyr car. It was scavenged from another Denver & Rio Grande Western train, the "Prospector" for use on the Rio Grande Zephyr. A combine is a car that is half coach, half baggage car. They are often used on short routes where a lot of baggage space isn't needed. Hope that helps!

Grizzly,
Thanks for the RGZ, it was just what was needed to go with the 5771 & B's I'd already downloaded. It's brought back many happy memories of travelling on the real RGZ in '78 & '80 :-)
