P42s pull lots of things. There's usually a baggage car between them and the first Superliner though.

Superliners only run on a very small portion of the NEC...

Also, the Amfleets from NALW's doors are open because they were built to be coupled to an electric locomotive in the sim. If you put a 'leccie in front of them the doors will stay closed when the pantograph is up and open when the pantograph is down. This doesn't work when you connect a diesel in front of the electric. The electric locomotive must be leading.

Some of our amfleets are designed to be used with electrics and have animated doors and some are designed to be used with diseasels and have non-animated doors...
search the threads for a post or twelve from Buzz Benz about which ones are what....

Brief summary:

There are only 5 Phase III painted coaches included in the NEC pack that do not have the opening doors (and the replacement for the default "Metroliner" Amfleet too, IIRC). The cars that do NOT have "NEC, Acela, or NE Direct" in the name are the ones without the animated doors.

As for what the P42DC (aka Genesis) pulls...
Well, everything! Superliners, Horizons, Amfleets, Heritage, etc etc. With the exception of about 20 P32-8BWH's (aka Pepsi Cans), they are the only locomotives that Amtrak has for road use. Well, mixed with the P40s as well, but they are almost visually identical... Basically, they are to Amtrak now what the F40 was during the late 70s, 80s, and early 90s.

Thanks Guys! I deleted that horrible looking consist, and saddled up some Phase IV non-animated metroliners to the F40PH Phase IV pair I downloaded last night.

I'm assuming that a single P42 would be used to pull 6 or 8 metroliners?

Lastly, do any of you know who I've got to contact here to update my e-mail addy? I'm not getting these replies...

A sing P42 could do it with no problem, after Washinhton DC the P42's normally take over for the Regionals, and some other trains i even seen P42's run the Regionals from boston. I think it's better to run the electrics from boston because you can just save the diesel and run the electrics at 125 mph.

I would like to know what the 'standard' car is that the P42DC's usually pull. I thought it was the superliner car, but when you look at the pic below, it's quite a height difference. I've passed 30th. street station while merging in off the interstate toward downtown Philly, and seen them in the yard. But I've never seen them hooked up in a consist.

Also, why are doors on the metroliner cars from NALW staying open when the train is in motion? I've put a couple of consists together myself, and wasn't quite sure if I had to put them in a certain order.

Thanks in advance!
