We're pleased to present to you our GP38-2 and GP40-2 Pro Edition sets with high-definition details and all the trimmings you've come to expect, including animated wipers, fans and photoreal 3-D bogies. Both our sets contain accurately scaled visual replicas with high resolution 1024x1024 textures, and each locomotive has its own custom cab views and appropriate options -- including things like extended range dynamic brake blisters and cab signal boxes.
Railroads represented include CSX, Norfolk Southern, and many others.

Since I received a number of requests about our wide cab version that was previously announced, I'll say we're awaiting official permission for some logo usage, but it's still planned as a free upgrade for our Pro customers:

A GP38-2W (pretty rare) alpha is shown here in our house colors but we'll roll out the more common GP40-2Ws, too.

Besides the default loco, is there a regular GP38 available for MSTS? All I have seen so far are gp38-2s. The -2 models are great models, but. . . :) Every now and then someone mentions a gp38, but I think they're just leaving off the "-2." The GP38-2s have been very well done, but I'm curious about the gp38. (Not a request for you, Chip- -I just figured your post might draw folks who were interested in GP units, thus also drawing in folks who might be able to answer my question. :) ) Thanks!

Hi Clayton
According to the MR Diesel Loco Cyclopedia Vol 2 the main differences between the 38 and the dash 2 version are internal.
Externally the differences are minor - water-level sight glass on the right side of the long hood just below the front edge of the radiator, and most GP38-2s have bolted doors on the battery boxes instead of hinged doors. Most GP38-2s have boxes for paper air filters on the roof just behind the air intake. The radiator is slightly shorter and the fans are spaced closer on the GP38-2. Several detail differences are due to customer demands, like trucks etc.
That's almost a direct extract from the book, so don't somebody flame me!! ;-)
Cheers
Ken
