All right check it out ...

The EMD BL2 BL= Branch Line Locomotive a F3 guts on a refined body shell for improved switching. This was a real big hit with EMD customers they bought 59 of them (including the demonstrator). Seems the Alco RS1 2 and 3's were much prefered. This loco is often called the link between the F series and the G series. But its a funky loco in my eyes, ugly... yes but funky and now soon the Nalw version will out sell the EMD. I got the loco into the game tonight here are some very early production stills.

Ugly aint it, like a cross between a GG-1 and an RS- and a long list of other locomotives. I bet people broke down in laughter when they saw it...

Still, good model, look foreward to giving it a spin (wearing a mask so nobody recognises the engineer!)

Ugly little devil it is. Nice work John. I'm going to need a bigger roundhouse for all that is going on now!

New LOGO in progress!

Hi

Looking pretty good.

I assume you will have the smoke (sorry, exhaust) coming from
the two exhaust stacks. I can't see from the two pictures I have
but it did have the same 16 cylinder 567B prime mover that the
GP7 had and it had two exhaust locations.

Hi Guys,

Ugly? HE$$ NO!!! This engine is a designers dream!! Ill take 10 in the Rock Island colors!! (Not the drab scheme, the AS-delivered!!)

Now from an operations stand point........Ewwwww!! BUT all you neigh sayers...WHITHOUT THIS loco you NEVER would have had the geep! EMD took what it learned from this, and used the right/wrongs to make the GP7!!

John, PLEASE keep going on her!! (And remember, I'll take the Rock!! (or whatever you choose to make)-Consider me you first orderer!! ;-)

Too bad I never took many pics of the ones the WSOR had stored for Glen Monhart at Janesville.
