Where I come from it's a small commercial twin-turbo-prop engined aircraft with a capacity of about 60 passengers.

Geez I'm going to have to change my name! SD90MAC and SD70MAC are just too close.
General Electric over the years made various improvements to their locomotives so as they did the upped the number next to the dash.
The designations mean:
B - Four Axles
C - Six Axles
30 - 3000 Horsepower - 40 = 4000 etc.
W - Full Width Cab or North American Cab
AC - AC Traction Motors
-7 - Dash 7 series of locomotives (Built late 70's)
-8 - Dash 8 (Built 80's)
-9 - Dash 9 (Built 90's and present)
So some examples are:
C30-7
B40-8
C40-8
C44W-9
C60AC

It's always been said a picture is worth a thousand words, so I guess this post is worth 2019 words. :)
