Question on creating a route

I have yet to use it but i was wondering what are the limits on designing a route or railroad the up and sp in california is it possible create routes that interconnect all of is there a limit ie i want to build a track from La to Las Vegas is this possible?

I don't know of any limits (other than patience). I'm building the Tehachapi pass from Bakersfield to Mojave and I plan to extend it all the way to Barstow and down to San Bernardino.

The Marias pass route is about 160 miles long so I'm thinking if there's any limit, that would be it.
