I'm trying to build a cab for an E44. I've got the basic loco built, but all the cab eqipment is to the left of the window. with the window taking from the right edge to almost the centre of the view. Gauges etc. take up the complete left half and just beyond the centre of the cab front!
The question is how can I see to the left of centre out of the window, or simply can't I do this due to MSTS limitations!

I know that I can't be the first to try, but has anyone succeded?

Thanks in anticipation.

Paul,

If you want to cahnge the view out of the front window, you need to manually play with the Position and Direction parameters in the CVF file. You need to do this manually as the cab editor does not provide any interactive viewing functionality.

Open your cvf in a Unicode text editor, find the Front view postion and direction lines and start 'playing' with the parameters. They are in the format Position ( x y z ) and Direction ( x y z ).

Position is the location of the cab from the centrepoint of the locomotive. eg loco is 12 metres long; centre point would = 0,0,0.

x = right of centre; -x = left of centre
y = height above ground
z = forawrd; -z = rearward

Direction x = up or down; y = right/left; z = tilt left or right.

Then run MSTS and look at the results; bail out; change settings; run sim again as many times as required to get the view you want. Boring, mind-numbing and stupid. The cab editor should have had an interactive method of making/showing changes!

The view is also subjective. No-one can agree on what is 'right' - sometimes accurate is unusable!

I am interested in seeing your engine. I have a soft spot for electrics and glad to see someone doing them.
Gordon. :D
