I installed the 4 cabviews for the General set finally and have them working. Great modification, good representation of the real cab. My question is the location of the injector valves and the blower switch in the upper left front of the cab (see the screenshot). All 4 have the same error in placement. I can't get Cab Editor to open them without crashing. Otherwise all of the functions work. All 4 .cvf files have the same location information for the switches and valves.

Any information on correcting the position would be appreciated.

Thanks

Richard, when I made these Cabs, it was the easiest to make the Four together. Thus you will find that the Controls are pretty much in the same place on all four. I however do not understand what you want replaced, altered or whatever?
Please drop me an "E" mail.
Glad you like it otherwise.
Johan.

If you notice the one valve covers parts of the gauges. I was wondering if they are in the correct location.

Richard, OK, I see what you mean. As I do not have any of the Generals's files anymore, bar one lost *.cvf file....I'm going to explain to you and anyone who has a simular problem, how to get rid of the Incorrect "Graphic" which covers the gauge.
If you or anyone do not know what to do...Please send me your 4 off *.cvf files for the various Generals. I'll do it for you.
ALSO REMEMBER >>> SAVE ALL THE FILES BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO MODIFY ANYTHING.
You have to do this, one at a time, for each General.
Please open the *.cvf file in the "Cabview" folder of the General to be modified, with "NOTEPAD". Use "Notepad" not anything else. You have to do the following correctly otherwise MSTS will crash.
At the top you will find
TR_CabView file (
....... Scroll down here to the line ......

CabViewControls ( 26
.....Change the 26 to 23....

Now scroll down to

TwoState (
Type ( Steam_INJ2 Two_state )
Position ( 178 121 85 65 )
Graphic ( ..\..\scotsman etc.
NumFrames ( 2 1 2 )
Style ( OnOff )
MouseControl ( 1 )
)

Delete the above as well as the following two " Inserts"

Lever (
Type ( Water_Injector1 Lever )
Position ( 800 255 42 18 )
Graphic ( 0 )
Etc.
)

Gauge (
Type ( Tender_Water Gauge )
Position ( 61 144 5 138 )
Graphic ( 0 )
Etc.
)

PLEASE note the Bracket sign " ) " This is important to be at the correct position and when the Lines are deleted, it must go with it. Therefor I typed the complete "Insert " which has to be "deleted" at the top of this explanation. The rest must be the same as above.
After you've deleted the lines ( Inserts ).... Please make sure that the next "Insert" which you did not delete...Line up correctly , below the bracket of the above "Insert" See example below:

)
Lever (

Now save your work, and proceed to the next General's *.cvf.
This will correct the problem. I'm sorry but ot looks as if I uploaded the incorrect *.cvf files, however it is not a Trainsmash ;-)

Excuse me, but shouldn't that be "WORDPAD"??? All of the other "text" file in MSTS are unicode and have to be edited in WordPad to keep from distroying them.

Johan

Thank you for the update. I have started using a UNICODE editor called EMEditor, it saves future headaches by not accidentally saving the files in the wrong format.

I made the changes and decided to make a single alias in the common.cab directory. All files changed and shifted with the problem areas resolved. Thanks

Richard, I'm glad you got it working correctly now. I haven't heard of the Editor "EMEditor"? Where did you find it? I'd love to try it out.
David.......All the stuff I've made has been done with "Notepad" and this is the reason for mentioning it.

I pulled it off one of the download sites, maybe download.com. The filename is eme326e.exe. It handles many file formats along with UNICODE. My next venture for this is to see about a few cab changes for the Jupiter and Eureka units.

Richard, Thanks for the info regarding the editor. I'll try and find it.
