*rubs eyes* *rubs eyes again*
:D :D I LOVE 'EM!!!! :D :D but what exactly is it a cab of?
kyleh24
09-27-2002, 08:46 AM
The Cab is from NALWs GE Megapack release of the Dash-8 & 9. It was done by Sam Spade. All I did was the night conversion. If you have NALWs release, then you have the daytime version. I only slightly modified the day version to have my brand of Cabsignals and a digital speedometer readout. The plan for my release of it is that it will be part of a reskinned or renumbered NALW unit. It will also include a bat file that will change the cab from night to day. The next time you run the bat file, it will change it back to night, and so on. It is being beta tested as we speak. There are instructions in the Readme1st file that will tell how to easily use it on other engines.

The yellow and blue buttons on the bottom left have some brownish stuff on top. Otherwise, it is great work!

It looks like you just opened up the files in an editor and changed the tone (i.e. "Replace Color" in Adobe Photoshop). That's a pretty handy way to create the art you've done!

I Wish it was that easy...

I'll probably fix that for the release...

I didn't notice that. Going back and looking at them, I noticed it.

The top one has it too :P guess that was a little error eh?
kyleh24
09-27-2002, 02:58 PM
Not an error really. This cab, like most non-default cabs use alot of ace files from the default ones. Those switches are from the Dash9, Acela etc.

Yeah, oh well. At least you can use that method for some areas, like how you changed the blue to green in the dials (the pattern looks exactly the same, so I assume this is how you did it). Seems like you could do this with all of the brown areas, too- -darken them up several notches and viola. But I haven't fooled with this at all, so what do I know? :) Anyway, it looks cool.

Kyle can you do this for the sd70 cab.Your work is on the one and I love the night time cab.How difficult would it be to do the default D9 cab in a night time view?
kyleh24

That idea is being tossed around between me and NALW. As long as they approve, and especially Sam Spade, or anyone else who had a hand in creating the day cabs agree. Kyle

Is this going to be in a 'megapack' or just a standalone locomotive?

Kyle has kindly consented to do this for all our GE cabs...
Consequently it will be relased as an update to the Megapak...
Along with any other fixes we develop for the Megapak.
It is currently being tested/debugged....

I didn't reply because there is alot more to the release (than the cabs) that I'm not involved with, so I didn't have a reliable answer to give you. But I can tell you that the cabs are still being tweaked on and tested.....Kyle

Thanks kyle.I don't think we were trying to be smart azzas.Just curious as to when another good product would be released. Thanks for the non-flaming answer.:)

Hey Claude I wasn't flaming you...
Just get a minimum of 10 e-mails a day asking the same question about every one of our products... Since we all have real lives and this is our hobby not our livelyhood I gave up on predicting release dates until final beta time....
Also all this is being included in an update to the Megapack which has other components...
Now can I go back to sleep?

Ok that'll work for me.It's very seldom that I'll ask such questions pertaining to the release of products. But being that you're the chief bottle washer and cook I guess all the inquirers will come to you when they wanna know what's going on.Take care and enjoy your sleep.Don't forget to count sheep while you're resting.:)
