Hi

I'm trying to modify the Scotsman sounds that have been copied across to a soon-to-be-released loco.

The loco in question is an oil-burner, and from my listening, it would appear that the only major differences in MSTS sounds in the cab would be the shovelling of coal. Obviously, I'd like to eliminate this particular sound (I haven't heard any firebox door opening and closing sounds, though).

I've looked at the .sms files but I'm not sure what I'm looking for or what to do with "it" once I've found "it" (hmmm, sounds a bit like my early teenage dating years :) ).

Could someone help me please?

Regards

Yuri.

I seem to recall that under each of ScalibilityGroup5 and 3
there is a stream dedicated to the shovelling sounds in fscotcab.sms. It's the stream which starts with a load of Initial_Trigger ................ Disable_Trigger type statements. Just delete this stream under each SG, and decrease the Streams ( count by 1.

Thanks, I'll look at that.... there are dozens of lines with

Stream(
Skip( **** Shovelling sounds. **** )
Priority( 5 )
Triggers( 58

followed by different shovelling rates per hour. I was unsure whether to wholesale delete all these references or simply delete the fs_coali.wav and the fs_coald.wav and leave the .SMS file alone.

I'll back up then embark on a mass delete.

On my oil burners, I took the checken's way out. I just opened each audio file the sms pointed to in an uadio editing program, and reduced the volume massively.

I may end up out there with the chickens as well :) .... I've just done something radically wrong with the .SMS file while doing a mass delete: I'm getting errors in trying to load the engine <sigh!>. It's 0130 here now, so I might just call it a day and revisit it tomorrow/tonight.

Thanks for your input.

Yuri.
