I have the British trolley route MCT. When I run the Brill and PCC trolleys, I do not get the usual "Press Enter to Continue" at each station, enabling me to load passengers and prompting me to continue on the route. I have noticed this on my two Brills, my Boston Trolley, and the PCC which I downloaded last week. However, there is a triple articulated light rail which I also downloaded, which does work this function. Has anyone any idea of code which I can add to my files to activate this feature?
Thank you in advance.

Hi,
Yes, I have.
Add this line to the .eng file, just above the Lights section:
PassengerCapacity ( 80 )
Alter the number to what you think is appropriate for the type of the car.

Thank you very much. . .
It worked with all of my different trains. Now if only someone will pass this on to Tim Muir, since I asked him a week or two ago. I am sure he would be interested in this knowledge.
Once again,
THANK YOU

Where did you download it?

Hi,
It has been passed to Tim. Chuck has done this. Chuck is doing many eng files for traction rolling stock, so I passed this one to him. He had let me know that he had contacted Tim about it.
Tim is having a difficult time - privately spoken, so don't expect a soon answer when you e-mail him.

I can't find Nahverkehr!

Hi,
When you push the button Loks, you get a page with 4 hyperlinks:
Nahverkehr, Dieselloks, Elektroloks, Dampfloks
The first hyperlink "Nahverkehr" brings you to the page with trams, trolleys, suburbans.

Hello, has anyone tried making activities with streetcars? I have a while ago... and failed miserably! The traffic was pretty tied, but on the Activity Editor's 2D map it showed at least a 250 meter distance between each tram! In the game though, I couldn't test it as it said: "This activity begins with objects colliding, which is not prohibited in Train Simulator". Did anyone else try this or get this error?
If you have or know a place where I can find diagrams of Tatra and Russian streetcars, please inform me at ussrtrainsim@narod.ru

Hi RVZ 6
this might be caused by a static car too close to the track end, or two consists being placed simultaneously on the same stretch of track.
While in the activity editor, have you tried the option to test your initial settings ("Ausgangszustand verifizieren" or something like that in the German version).
By the way: AI train (or tram) paths are not easy to create. You have to think carefully what you want them to do, and how. The AI logic of the sim is not very clever, for example nothing will prevent the AI "engineer" of a following train to run into the train ahead without a signal telling him to stop.
Even then, chances of a deadlock (two trains blocking each other) are notoriously high, though you can help a bit by selecting the option "begin passing path" at sidings etc ("Durchfahrtroute beginnen").
Look through the activity forum for all kinds of useful tricks and "don't do's" regarding pathes, traffic patterns, static consists etc.
Unfortunately, MSTS does not seem to like dense traffic...

Swissie - big thanks. I'll try all your suggestions next time I do an activity with streetcars. It is sad since I love streetcar traffic, but its hard to set up in MSTS. As for the "Preview" in 2D I always use it, yet its always off from the reality. In case you're wondering, the route is Number One tram. Maybe I should settle for something simpler, like the MCT route for now.

I have tried a couple of times to make a simple activity for an electric trolley line and I wasn't able to get it to work either. Most of the line ran on private right-of-way, so there wasn't really any issue with traffic. This was a simple activity just to take passengers from the station downtown to a hotel in the mountains. But pressing enter never loaded or unloaded passengers, and so the activity would always end unsuccesfully. You said this was because a line needed to be added to the .eng file of the trolley car. Where exactly does this entry need to be added? Can you email a sample .eng file that has this line to me? I know you said it was supposed to go above the lights section, but I just wanted to be sure I had a better idea before I start messing with the file! My email address is gatecityca@aol.com Thanks!
Heres a sample from an .eng file of mine which has the necessary line.
I've included a section below:-
<<
BrakeDistributorApplicationRate( 15 )
BrakeDistributorTrainPipeControlRatio( 2.03 )
BrakeDistributorNormalFullReleasePressure( 70 )
PassengerCapacity ( 200.0 )
Lights ( 14
Light (
comment( Front Left Headlight Full Sphere )
Type ( 1 )
>>
The part between the << and >> is the extract.
This should show you where I put this line in my .eng files.
They do want to load passengers at stations, so although the file attached is marked test, it's just a development file I use.
I've selected this from a subway car, the normal value will be much smaller than 200. Make yours whatever the true capacity of the car is, I included a crush load in this as I'm trying to work out the relationship between the passenger capacity and the time taken at stations. (I've drawn a blank so far but someone may have already worked it out)!
I've also attached a zip file of the complete eng file.
I hope this is of some use.
Paul
