Well I don't know how many knew about this but on Monday while the RBB&B Circus Train was on it's way towards Bakersfeild the UP DD40x and it's Consist of Passenger cars were on there way to Mojave so it made a Sweeet Meet at Warren CA. Unfourtanately I was not aware that it was coming or I would not have missed it but I did make an activity for Tehachapi Pass 2 and I also made a story that goes along with it . Here we go

It was a warm morning in Bakersfeild California and I had stopped to get gas in my car before I went out to Railfan for the day . By the time I grabbed my camera this is all I could catch of the UP Centineal Gaurd Train

So I hurried up and finished putting gas in my car and took off after it . While stopped at a red light I snapped this pic and then I noticed the light had changed

After getting on the Road I started to notice that more people had noticed this train and one person even ran a traffic light to catch it .

After stopping at the AMPM to go to the Bathroom my freind decided he would drive so I decided to check the Webcam at Trainorders.com to see what was going on up at that end of the pass

We got to Bealville a few minutes before he did so we could get the best place to stand . After we relised he was stopping ( note the train coming from Cliff ) My friend decided to hike up past tunnel 5
http://www.trainsim.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=view_attachment&file=3f39e7f152092d72.jpg

Right as he pulled in is when the ATSF Boxcar train met him on the siding

Lead Locomotive on the Boxcar Train was an SF GP20 , I think this is the one from the Webcam

My Friend got this with his zoom lense from Cliff

Nearing the end of the Train I could hear the Centineal Unit Notching up getting ready to go .

After driving up to meet my friend at cliff he snapped this pic

Making his way up the hill exiting cliff heading for Rowen
http://www.trainsim.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=view_attachment&file=3f39ea815661a57b.jpg

On his way to Rowen he met up with this Manifest lead by UP Geeps

Sorry man I don't have 6936 and I don't have the UP fonts to renumber it so I can't. Glad you enjoyed them

6936, ditchlights and all, is under construction by Elliott Barber - I was working on some lighting glitches with him back in March and April. Seems he has fallen off the (virtual) face of the earth. Reality probably got in the way of his simming. He said it would be in ddpck8.zip if it ever gets released, in three different versions: as delivered, something about changed numberboards (don't remember exactly what he said), and as currently configured.
Jeez, talk about spaced! I've been running ATSF 97 for almost two years now without realizing that it's one of the few I've seen (and photographed) in real life. Saw it in your screenshots and had a flash. Now, I gotta find one of my prints of it to post.

Nice work, Shane. Something like this can sure turn capturing screen shots into something more fun. May have to keep this idea in my mind for something interesting to do one of these days.

Turns out it ws 96 I photographed...
After months of searching, I found my negative file in the barn while looking for a box of Christmas Ornaments. To be honest, I thought I had lost them all when my house burned down in 2001. Needless to say, I am one happy camper right now! :D
Anyway, here it is:

Interesting photo - my records show that the picture was taken on July 1, 1990, from the 'knoll' on Cajon Pass. That set of engines was in helper service, and they ran past us probably eight times, either pushing something, or running light for the next 'help.' This was the only time we saw them helping Westbound. Note also that the caboose is manned for some reason, even though this was a through freight, and FRED's had been in use for a while. I have no idea why it was on the train with people in it that day.

Thanks everyone . Andy What I do is keep a pen and pad so to speak near the computer and when I take a shot I write down what the Caption or story could be to go with it , When I end my activity I come on here and post all the shots with the story I wrote down to go with it . Sometimes you can't always find a story to go with the pic :)
