Hi all,

The route and train have been subject to further testing and scrutiny, resulting in both being updated, you can find the files here:-

http://www.zodiac-infosystems.co.uk/rail/bve/routes/HeavyCoal_2.6_route.zip

http://www.zodiac-infosystems.co.uk/rail/bve/trains/MV_Class46.exe

Install them together for maximum benefit ;)

Also check this site :-

http://www.sets.org.au

which is the home of the Sydney Electric Train Society, current owners of loco # 4615 featured in the Heavy Coal Route

Yes it does, if the name won't resolve for you then have a bash at your ISP, that's their business.

Nice route Wulf!

Cheers Richard!

To be sure, the scenery was derived from Mr. Gaku's Iidia line, modified by Bruce Kennewell (for that Australian feel) to become the original Heavy Coal v1, later updated to v2 (the version that was on CroTrainz) and recently updated to v2.6 by Tim Frost and yours truly.

The train is still undergoing developmental changes as I learn more about these remarkable locos and the history of the real 'Blue Mountains Line' as described at the SETS website, http://www.sets.org.au - check this out!

At some future point I would like to re-instate the passenger service that also ran here, but that requires a lot more route/object coding so will take some time to get around to it ;)

Open question, not just to Wulf. If I just wanted to run a version of local passenter service or the Indian-Pacific express, any suggestions for trains to use? Yes I know I could use anything, but what would be reasonably correct.

Hi Sanford,

Most American diesels would be appropriate AFAIK, or maybe even a steamer, but the type you would be likely to see are not yet made for Bve, however for steam you could get away with using Paul Woozley's excellent C30, available from his bve_fan website (whose cab *might* be getting a remake not far from where I am standing), for the diesel try the GP38 with a suitably adjusted consist/physics. Failing that you might have to wait until I do the Indian Railways WGC2, an interesting electric beast that was famous for its noise (!). You don't say if the route you are thinking of has OHLE, depending on the era there would be no wires until the late 70's IIRC, and maybe not even now....

I was thinking of the heavy coal route. In the route readme, there is some wording about the last commuter train having left and the Indian-Pacific is running behind you. Some thing for fone of those trains on that route.. I actually thought of the Passenger F40PH for fun, but it would not be correct for the time. I will also look for the Steam you mentioned. Do not have any yet, this might be a good one to start with.

Ah,

I'm with you now, well yes the C30 steamer would definitely be one type of traction, in fact it will be required when the 'Blue Mountains Steam' route is re-instated to the Heavy Coal package. The F40PH is actually quite suited to this route too as it has great hill-climbing ability and would not be out of place in a real sense, this line and those engines are both entering the dawn of their years in preservation so might well be found working together, assuming you can afford to hire the ship to import one! You might like to wait for a little while longer for the F40 as it is currently having a major overhaul ;)
