Does anybody know what it takes to apply a gradient setting when placing various types of new tracks in the Scenario editor ?
The only tracks which respond to a decimal value in the bottom left pull-out's Gradient box are the B-SB tracks using % gradient values.
The 1 in X and X.X p.mill ones can not be set as far as I can see !
Had no response to that question in the Rail Simulator forum so far.

Track Rules?
I am referring to the existing ones, only one of which, the B-SB, allows gradients to be set before placing new tracks !

I think it's based on the route template in use at the time of creating (or modifying existing) route. I could be wrong though.

As usual, applying a lot of trial and error found what it takes to apply GRADIENT to other than B-SB tracks, which use 0.000 or whatever %, when placing new tracks which need a gradient applied.
Observe the settings in the GRADIENT box bottom left and compare them with the text in the track pop-up boxes.
Positive values usually apply up-slope gradients and negative values the opposite.

Why use three different methods of applying GRADIENT, counting the % of the B-SB trackrule, unless different programmers created them without synchronizing what they were doing with others working on RS ?
It seems that most programmers and project managers, including those at Microsoft, have forgotten the KISS principle, "Keep It Simple, Stupid" ! ;)
