Not RS, but this new photo-realistic Train Simulator might be of interest to US simmers ?

Really stunning, Otto!! Never cared that much for subway sims because they spend too much time in the dark. When and where is it available.

Hi Arthur !
Not sure whether or not I am allowed to do this, but here it is anyway: http://www.aerosoft.com/cgi-local/us/iboshop.cgi?show280 :D
Anyone buying it make sure that the latest drivers for their graphic cards have been installed, which doing so myself has also improved frame rates for my RS ! ;)

Old news, a lot of us are still waiting for the second patch.

I bought this sim as a download some weeks ago and have to say its the best rail-sim I've ever tried ..and although I agree with the point about subway sims being 'dark', this sim is breathtaking above ground too.
Made a video of my first run......

(note: the gameplay is actually much sharper and smoother than this
low res youtube video portrays)

Brilliant video, Rob ! :D
This train simulator leaves all others standing at their starting posts and future ones will have a job trying to match it.
I am looking forward to further releases of their's ! ;)
Can you control the camera and zoom in the O outside views, I can not see functions for ?
Have programmed some of it's Control keyboard keys the same as those used by MSTS and RS so that I can use my PIEngineering programmable X-KEYS pad for it too !
Can not test my RAILDRIVER with WoS, not having been able to make it work for RS yet ! :(
Take care, O t t o.

The Rail Driver isn’t compatible with WOS yet and Rail Driver works fine with Rail Sim.
Let’s hope that the second patch fixes some of the obvious issues with WOS.
Hi; I have an IntelCore 2 Duo Processor E4400, and using an e-GeForce8800GT video card. Does anyone know if this setup will run WOS? Cheers; Chuck F.

Yes as long as your DirectX is up to date and you are using the latest or one of the last two driver releases from Nvidia.

Have not yet managed to make it work with RS, despite downloading and installing it's latest driver/exe, perhaps conflicting with my 3 PIEngineering programmable X-Keys pads ?
This being off-subject here would appreciate if you could send me a PM and tell me what you have downloaded from them and from where on their web site and step-by-step instructions on how to installed it, keeping in mind my WIN-XP computer. ;)
Or post it in the Raildriver forum for the benefit of others who also have not been able to install it ?

I have set my WoS Control keyboard keys to match the driving functions of MSTS and RS so that my train sim X-Keys pad can drive trains in WoS too.
Having done that could the RAILDRIVER perhaps read their keyboard scan codes which are being sent to the keyboard by it ?

Being one of the "older" types I find it hard to get used to new programs. I bought the World of Subways and installed it without problems, read the .pdf, but for the life of me I cannot seem to get the train to move!!! Checked and rechecked and I seem to be doing whats expected, but the darn thing will not leave the station. Yes the doors are closed. Wish it was mouse or joystick usable.
Anyone...please give me a hint...please!

Arthur - by default two of the key assignments have not been set in the Options, PageUp and PageDn for the reverser. You will also find F1 and F2 work the doors, not the keys listed in the manual. It's also advisable to play without the deadmans (space bar) needing to be held down continually as I have a feeling this plays havoc with the keyboard buffer.
Basically the routine to start the train is...
Spacebar - Engage Deadmans.
L - Headlight.
Numpad 7, 8 & 9 for the announcements.
F3 for the door warble.
F1 or F2 to close doors depending on which side the platform is.
PgUp Reverser forward.
Cursor arrow left to release brakes (cursor right applies).
Cursor arrow Up/Down for throttle.
Although you lose points at at the evaluation, advisable to play with the F5 - F8 Help windows open.
Personally I think it's a cracking little sim, yes the physics needs tweaking and the C4 graphics engine a few stability issues but once these are sorted I think it has given the train sim genre a huge push in the right direction. I'm currently in the middle of writing a review and looking at a 90% plus rating.

Hi Vern !
While you are writing your review could you please mention that we could do with a detailed map of the route, showing all it's stations and their names.
Another thing which could be improved is 15 mph speed signs well in advance of tight curves in tunnels.
I got derailed a couple of times driving in a 40 mph zone and without warning find myself in a 15 mph curve, going too fast ! :(
The F5 panel does not show the allowed speed until you are actually in the curve ! :(
It's FAB, especially a night, but do not like the looks of these switches frogs, I have already mentioned to TML as well as the map, but have had no response so far directly nor in the WoS forum ! ;)

Nothing special worth sending a PM about, I just ran the exe, plugged in the Rail Driver, ran the calibration program, fired up KRS and it worked no problem. I’ve had no problems using it with XP/SP3 or Vista 64/SP1.
As far as the second patch is concerned I was referring to the draw distance issues when running above ground. It seems that the sim could still use a serious dose of optimization also.

Works well, but I can't seem to get the mouse pointer to show, even by pressing CTRL on the left. Changing the destination sign is hard for me.
Hi; And thanks for the reply. WOS will be on my Xmas list! Cheers; Chuck F.

BRILL ! That should help knowing where in the route the Start location options are. THANKS, Arthur !

FREEROAM ? There is a mention of Explore somewhere and would have thought that using it and not a Shift task should ignore signals. Some REDs one can pass and others one can not !
I think I read in the WoS forum that they are going to do something about them ?
Don't stop where there is camera flash. If you do it keeps flashing until it's bulb has worn out ! :)
Take care, O t t o.

There is an update for it here: http://www.world-of-subways.com/index.php?id=210&L=0&L=1
First install the Update_Reset.rar and run it's BATCH file and then the full patch.
Has still got some problems, they are no doubt working on.
