I have a question that might be stupid but i dont know so thats why i am asking, can i upgrade from my current XP Home which is 32bit to XP or Vista 64 bit? Or is it that you can only upgrade from a 64 bit to 64 bit?

IIRC you cannot upgrade from 32 to 64 bit - you actually have to do a clean install

FWIW I have 64 bit myself buf I did a clean install anyway - I have a religious aversion to upgrades :)

The clean install is worth it, especially if you have 4G or more RAM.

My Vista 64 system was a lot faster then Vista 32 and I thought GREAT, but I could not find a 64 driver for my LiDE 80 scanner so I had to revert to 32bit...

cheers

If you want to, you can upgrade from 32 bit XP to 32 bit Vista, without problems. 64 bit Vista, though, requires a clean install. If you want to go this route, download all the 64 bit drivers for your system, before you get started, burn them to a CD, so that you'll have them on hand, after you get to the Vista desktop. It's what I did and I've not been sorry. This is especially useful if you have a computer that is multiple cores on the CPU and has 4 Gb installed or more.

It depends heavily on whether or not the PC that you have can or will support not only Vista 64-bit, but DX10 as well and that depends entirely on your video card. I can only verify that graphically, Assassin's Creed looks far better on DX 10, than DX 9. DX10 won't do a thing for MSTS, though, since it is, figuratively speaking, decades old, in terms of graphics and complexity, when compared to much newer programs and PC's.
