Off and on work over the last 2 weeks, it's time for an update. The curve is almost done, with some final things to fix up. So far I feel like I am there!

Austin, Let me be the first to say, I am really impressed with the work you are placing into this route, The time and effort will make it a fantastic route to run on, Cannot wait to unleash some NS power on it.

Also, will you have the other side of this "curve" that goes up hill into it, so that we can actually start at point A and pick up helpers to climb up to the curve and then cut them off and end at point B?

(sorry forgot the town names, really.)

The route will encompass Altoona (and Yard) to Johnstown. So yes, helpers are the name of the game here! Thanks for the comments. To do this properly I want to put a lot of time into getting it right, accurate, and despite the limitations in msts, get the scenery to reflect the real locations. So far everything is looking as it should. No freelancing here, realism is what I'm trying to obtain.

Lilly and Cassandra is up next for the work orders.

The Cassandra overlook is a nice spot for railfanning. I look forward to seeing that.

Thanks everyone. Glad to see such enthusiasm! This tells me I am the right track (pun intended)...lol. Minus a few things due to the era of this route, this will be the best place to run just about anything that ran over the route. Even some RJ Corman at Cresson.

It's very early to nail down a release date, but at the progress I have been making I can project an expected release date in the fall of 2010. A semi-public beta will be released this summer. I'm planning on a reference/railfanning trip to the location this spring or summer with the boy.

Shawmut, I have no doubt that Austin's work would be good, but why run PRR equipment anachronistically on a route fifty years in the future when prototype trackage exists? E.g., 1968 vs 2010?

Hey Austin, if you are going to do the Curve correctly, you should animate the incline! Even better make it functional!!!! I believe some one has built a functional one, although I do not remember which route has it.

London & Port Stanley has a functional incline. That would be a awesome feature to add to this route. ;)

We did think about adding it to the PRR-Er, but would have been too anachronistic! We would have had to run Conrail and NS excursion runs to justify it!!!!!

Mike,

Considered it, however with snow and night activities, it would be out of place under those circumstances. I will be making a low poly funicular car object to add to the scene, it will likely end up parked in the lower visitors center

Yes we thought this was the best way to do it. Now I do believe the incline at Johnstown runs all year round. But me and Vinnie have not talked about that yet, and it's a ways off.

Very nice work on the route! Will be very nice to fire up some 80MACS and take them for a spin!

How far back year wise does that incline go?

It opened in the spring of 1992

How about putting some buried "railfanning" tracks around there like in the Ohio Rail Route.

Good..no need for it in our version.

Some Youtube videos show it's a good vantage point overlooking Johnstown.
