Pondering thoughts... What sounds best..
MIRW - Marion, Indianapolis, Rockford & Western Railroad
MCD - Marion, Chicago & Dubuque Railroad
MRP - Marion, Rockford & Peoria Railroad
CII - Central Indiana & Illinois Railroad
COWI - Central Ohio & Western Illinois Railroad

Or, what your thoughts of a railroad name would be. Basically, The line is to following the CR Indy line from Marion into Indianapolis and Avon, From Indianapolis it follows the Monon up into Chicago, Then runs from Chicago into Rockford, and Rockford into Dubuque. At Rockford, there would be a branch that runs south from Rockford to Granville and Granville into Peoria. Basically, it would be set to modern day, and take over CSXT trackage from Marion to Chicago, Whatever railroad into Dubuque, and then the fictional railroad of the LSRC.

Paint scheme I haven't bothered to think of yet, however, being I don't do much painting, someone willing to help paint with me would be great. I'd have to think of a roster..

And to give a heads up. No this will not be connected with the on going AR&I stuff, or any other fictional railroad that has popped up, This is my own little thing, breathing it's own life, to bring back uniqueness to fictional railroading.

I just figured I'd ask here, because I know there are a lot of fictional railroads here, that could give some feedback.

Name and Paint Scheme idea by Thomas J Pearce. I will eventually finish this up before painting onto an actual GP40-2.

Also, the company will have SD70ACe's; ES44AC's; SD40-2's; C636's; GP38-2's; GP40-2's; GP50's; SW1200's; C425's; and RS-32's.

Nice ideas, can I still some names? I like Midwest Belt, but belt usually suggests an a terminal transfer road in an urban setting.

I'd skip the alcos and current big power, all EMD spartan cabs would lend a nice regional feel to it.

Well, Calling it Midwest Belt Rail Company is basically what it is, a Belt line between Marion, Ohio to Dubuque, Iowa, and from Rockford, Illinois to Peoria, Illinois.

It would consist of the same traffic as you would see today, Containers, Trailers, Auto, Grain, Coal, Lumber, Paper, Gas, Ethanol, etc, plus General Merchandise, and Local traffic.

Also calling it the MBRC is much more unique than that of the others that are constantly over-used.

The power was set for specific lines and traffic.

Marion to Dubuque would include use of
SD70ACe's; ES44AC's; SD40-2's; GP38-2's; GP40-2's; GP50's; and SW1200's
SD70ACe's; ES44AC's; and SD40-2's would be on bulk trains and through freights.
SD40-2's GP38-2's GP40-2's and GP50's would be on through freights, general merchandise, and road switching.
GP38-2's and SW1200's would be local and yard duties.

Rockford to Peoria would include use of.
C636's; GP38-2's; GP40-2's; SW1200's; C425's; and RS-32's
C636's; and GP40-2's would be on bulk trains and through freights.
GP38-2's; GP40-2's; C425's and RS-32's would be on Through Freights, General Merchandise and Road switching.
GP38-2's and SW1200's would be local and yard duties.

What I am trying to do, is set the bar to realistic operations, and not so fantasy like most fictional roads have been doing, even my AR&I.

The MRP sounds like a good name. I also like the sound of Midwest Belt. They all are good names and RR's, being from the midwest ;)

There are real railroads already running there. The IC now CN runs from Chicago to Rockford then to Dubuque.

Sure could use some help with the painting. But I could use some engineers as well ;)

That would be a logical route to use as a basis for your route. IC did spin it off at one time and with a little different history it could be an independent line today.

Interesting Shawn. I like Marion, Chicago & Dubuque Railroad, I think because it has the "Chicago" in it.
I would like to see where you go with it since lately all I do is run the fictional Illinois stuff - LSRC, GENOA, and Illinois Western. I could see my personal fantasy lines partnering in with your plans.
Fun stuff! :)

Neil, heh, well you see, the SD50's from LSRC will be patched and used for MOW service (rock trains) mainly. :p

Basically we bought out LSRC, and purchased trackage from CSXT :p
