• Announcing TrainSim.Com 2012

Today we would like to announce an upgrade to the TrainSim.Com web site. We have now switched the entire site to run under the popular vBulletin software. We have, of course, been using vBulletin for many years for the message forums. The rest of the site now runs under the vBulletin CMS (content management system) software.

This upgrade gives a bit of a new look to some parts of the site, but in general the actual functions will not change all that much. The message forums will work pretty much the same as before. The file library as well retains all the features that you are used to.

Some of the site URL's have changed, so if you have bookmarked parts of the site other than the home page you may need to update your bookmarks.

We hope you like the changes that help keep the site operation up to date. Your feedback is of course welcome.

Once we get everything to settle down, we can think about creating the color versions again possibly maybe we will get right to it!

Is it just me, or is the site no longer full screen on the monitor?

That's what I'm getting, 1 1/2 inch light gray margins on both sides, all pages narrow.

Excellent but I think fluid is turned off or styleVars has a funny setting.. It should be on by default on Vbulletin but I am seeing a few inch of grey either side.

So, again, just wondering about the screen-size. Is everyone experiencing this, or is there a way to enlarge it? I definitely preferred the full-screen views...

The fixed screen size is a part of the new design. If you look around the web you'll see this has become very common.

Isnt thats usually for a good reason though Nel.. We use it like that for a background, news etc and adverts etc.. Just seems a bit silly to do it for no reason other than some grey background and empty space

I agree with Curt C and Sidestep. I would prefer having a full screen view or having the empty spaces on the sides used for adverts or news concerning anything to do with railways, models, modelling etc.
Other than that I think Nels has done a great Job !
      Thanks Nels.
