• Metro-North New Haven Line Route Released

Finally after more than four years of anticipation, Ryan Murphy and Michael Kurras have released the Metro-North New Haven Line route for MSTS.

This route includes some of America's most congested track dominated by Metro-North commuter trains and the Amtrak's Northeast corridor trains. The project began under Cory Duguid several years ago, before he turned the project over to Ryan Murphy who continued work for a couple years. In August of 2011, Murphy added Michael Kurras as a developer, and with the two of them at the helm, the project flourished, finally reaching the completed state in December of 2012.

The developers would like to thank the train simulator community, and especially the community at TrainSim.Com whose continual support, and assistance at time, kept the project afloat.

Job well done to everyone who worked on this project! It's been hard, very hard work I'm sure, something I would never have been able to accomplish. Thank you to everyone that's worked on it!

I seriously wonder how people are so amazed.. once you're outside NYC, the route looks nothing better than the MS standard routes. I like the M2 trainset though.

Frankly I'm amazed at all the routes done at today's standard. I know they are a lot of work and so far, it's more than I've done. I appreciate it very much.

One of the requirements for the default activities with the route is NALW's NEC Megapack

I'm having a little difficulty. After installing, MSTS opens but the "Drive a Train" option is not available. I looked and there are indeed some activities, services and paths in the route. I have the required rolling stock (are there also required consists?). I also can't seem to open the route in Activity Editor. Haven't yet checked it out with route riter. I did re-install. I'm on Windows 7 . . . permissions seem fine and I'm just copying a stripped mini-route that served me fine in other instances.

Any thoughts about what's going on?

      thanks

      hi Christopher,
do you have conbuilder? if not, run route riter 1st. see what error messages there are. there is a program msts activity anaylist. may give some insight.

Did you run routeconfig.exe? you can find it in:
      >Start Menu\Programs\Michael Kurras and Ryan Murphy\The Metro North Route

This software patches the route with either visible or invisible catenary wires (your choice which) and is required to be run as part of the installation process.

This information is also located in the README file

Thank you Micheal - that did the trick.

I DID run the route config program when I first installed it . . . but when it opened and asked which wire option I wanted, I thought "I think I'll leave it default as built and see how the creators set it up," so I didn't choose either of them and shut the program. It never occurred to me that would introduce complications.
