Where's the fun in Trainz now?
Well, for me it has been taking a standard gauge Shay that is too dark to show all any fine detail and adding specular lighting, brightening the skin, adding an...
Guys --
Let's do away with the personal attacks and get this thread back on track.
_____
It's possible to have multiple installations of TS12. I have five.
All work independently. Just...
"I guess their beta testers won't tell the truth about the product so they send it to the community."
After the verbal thrashing I got very few others were brave enough to stand up and be counted.

Over in the Trainz forums most of the comments are about Content Manager and the tightened up error checking that results in faulty dependencies.
But for me the driving experience is...
Willy -
Any version of Win7 is just fine.
Get at least a dual core. In TS10 onwards the AI is shunted off onto the second core and this can make a significant difference if you are interested...
Hi George --
I'm not sure if the original poster was seeking details about making mesh or re-skining to give the specular lighting effect.
Perhaps he could clarify his question.

Penultimate paragraph:
" ... Train Simulator 2013 is seemingly geared toward hardcore enthusiasts ... ."
I guess that says it all.
Hi Vern --
"However it suffers from slightly wonky AI and signalling logic which can make it difficult to build in AI traffic to a scenario."
Do you want to rephrase this, or would you prefer...
Hi stationmaster --
I've done several "model railway" like layouts in Trainz. Whatever route you choose I'd make two suggestions:
1. Even though its a model railway, do follow prototypical...

For newcomers and to expand on your post #11 above, Content Manager will allow you to edit and change most things and then save, but it will not allow you to change the kuid number of an...
Hi Marc --
"Technically speaking, and I mean no disrespect, but the most basic railroad operation is traveling from point-A to point-B, which covers all mentioned sims."
Good point but also...
Vast improvements. Impressive!
Does it impact on frame rates?
Hi Dick --
I think that's Ben Neal's kuid.
Did you read the text under the thumbnail?
This session is for DowntownTractionCo TS12. It requires the TS12 versions of the steam locomotives by...
Lost? Must be one of these people who depends on a in-car GPS and has now lost the ability to navigate by map?
"Routes in a box"? Tabletop layout? I consider my tour de force to be...
Eh?
Actually there are two parts and three questions:
How do I find locations which consume and produce commodities?
How do I know if there are interactive industries at these locations?

Over at JointedRail there are a couple of signal packs. Justin used one of them to re-signal my Krashnburne to give the correct indications of the switch settings at approaching junctions....
That "built-in" originally came from the DLS. Search for "gas plant", by ad602000.
It became a built-in asset when my DowntownTractionCo, which uses it, was a built-in route in TS10. The route...
Good.
Did you try my little test? If I'm having AI problems I often do a quick mock up that reduces the problem to the absolute basics. I can then fiddle around finding what the real issues are...
I've set up a little test.
Unzip the attached and install. It will require three dependencies form the DLS - a test route, the track the route uses, and Jim's permissive signals.
It all works...
Hmm - I see what you mean. I've never encountered that before, but then I've never studied the signal aspects in Surveyor.
More importantly how do the signals react in Driver?
There is a little demonstration of mine on the DLS that might interest you if you are determined to fiddle with AI. Look for "AI switching demonstration TS12". The route and session both have this...
Hmm -- I'm not sure if this is what you want, but I'll go ahead anyway.
This is a map of a Trainz route, "DowntownTractionCo":

Is that one of my Riverside sessions? If so, which one and I'll check it out.
For MIN to work the locomotive has to be attached to the consist. ProtoLARS is the only interactive...

You're right about the 100 consists limit. It can be a real bummer, particularly on longer routes - but I use Central Portal Control mainly because the portals will emit an AI immediately...
Go to the DLS and download "Signal Link Route" and "Signal Link Session". All you woes as the player will be over. See the implementation in "Krashnburne". It's a also a good one to just sit back...
