Default Union Pacific "Desert Victory" SD40-2

On February 27th, 1991 a 392,000-pound tribute was paid by the Union Pacific Railroad to the American troops serving in the Persian Gulf War. UP 3593, an EMD SD-40-2, rolled out of the North Little Rock shops in full desert camouflage dress. Union Pacific railroad employees had repainted the SD-40-2 as a symbol of their support for fellow workers called to active duty for the Persian Gulf War. Dedicated less than 12 hours before the cease-fire was announced, it was hailed as “Desert Victory” by UP railroaders.

I looked everywhere for a picture and I couldn't find one! I found one site, but the picture was too small!

Is anyone in the process of repainting a SD40-2 to the "Desert Victory" scheme?

Someone did indeed paint that unit but has not uploaded it due to "not enough interest" I believe because they had one of those "stroke my ego please" posts. Take a hint now reskinners and model builders I will be blunt. If you post something like that...I will not respond and I know several others that way.I personally care not how many people may "want my reskins" if I make just 1 person happy with it my job is done. Well 2 people happy I guess because I must be happy with it before I release it...so let me ammend that to if just 1 person who downloads it is happy my job is done...I do not do this for "the slobbering masses" to quote someone. I do this because I like to do this. If you really need your ego stroked that bad you have problems.

Along with the pics here, I've tracked down some more information. My personal interest is in Military rail equipment so I'll use the pics as a guideline and start work on this piece. I noticed there are two 'sign boards' on the side that I would really like to get an upclose pic of as I'm sure they explain the dedication as well as list the names of those men and women who were activated for Desert Shield/Desert Storm.

I'm going into the repainting business, I might even find a SD40-2 and do the Desert Victory scheme.

I only do repainting for myself, I don't care how many people download it. I'll upload work that I do, because someone has to find interest in what I have to offer...

I would most definately like to see this engine. If it was to be made it would be a true work of art, and not a project for the weak at heart.

And if you do make it I would "stroke your ego" cause I appreciate all the hard work you would put into it.

    I found some additional info

This loco HAS been done and screenshots were shown...any developer that needs their ego stroked to the point of saying things like "I will only upload this if I get enough repsonses" is doing it for the wrong reasons. I do my damndest to check my ego at the door...if I post a screenshot the reskin being shown is getting uploaded and thats all there is to it. It may be a few weeks before it hits the library after I post a screenshot due to me trying to get it "perfect" but it WILL be uploaded. I have no time to play ego stroking games.

Hopefully looking forward to this one, It's a classic and sure to be a hit especially with the military crowd. As a retired military myself I take great interest in all military and tribute to military rail activities.
As to anyone who has done this one, great job! and to anyone who is willing to do it I'm sure it will be greatly appreciated.

    John :-)
