Default What tells the program which texture file to use?

I tried to search this out, but I can hardly explain it here to even ask the question. What I am trying to figure out is, say when you load the sim up and chose which locomotive to use, how does the sim know which .ace file to load up? For example, in a loco folder you have the .s, .sd, and .eng files. Then you have the .ace files, what "tells" the program to load up "thisfilehere.ace" for the texture to appear? I hope this makes sense, but I am guessing it may be located in the .s file since thats the only one I cant read lol. Thanks, Charles

    Charles,

You are correct, the information as to which ACE file/s to use is stored within the .S file.

If you open the .S file using Shape File Manager you can then uncompress the file. There is then an option to ‘Wordpad Edit S’ the uncompressed shape file. Use the search option in Wordpad and look for the letters ‘ACE’ which will take you to the section referencing the ACE files.

You can then change the name of the ACE files here to suit your new ACE file names then recompress the .S file.

The following link provides more info on Shape File Manager and a link to download it.
