Error in sigcfg.........*argh*
Ok, I was careful as I could be, but is still get an error in my sigcfg file after adding the nifty switchlamps made by signalmaster.
I've looked through the file comparing it to my backup without the lamps and I can't find anything. I'm combining them with the upper quad semaphores. The "counters" were adjusted with the new values after adding the lamps. I only added the scripts below the counters for "signal types" and "signal shapes".
I originally tried it with the set including the lower quad distant and had the same problem. Since I don't want the lower anyway, I dl'd the ssaddon.zip. No joy. Error is just in a different line.
The editor says it is in line 655. (I know this is no help without showing the entire script...)
I guess my question is, how do I find a specific line in these things using either wordpad or notepad (I have XP Pro so notepad is ok)? If I can find the specific line I can probably fix it.
Thanks,
Todd

RE: Error in sigcfg.........*argh*
Hi,
I'm not familiar with Wordpad. I use EditPad Pro. But that is shareware and you have to pay for it.
A fine free editor that I use from time to time is Editor2. A small program, no installation is needed. It is Unicode sensitive, it can follow brackets (finding unpaired brackets) and can go to lines.
Go to this site and see the download on the right:
http://netez.com/2xExplorer
According to the readme's the Unicode version works the best, but otherwise the non Unicode version will do fine.
Oh and BTW when you are on that site, give 2xExplorer a try too. It is a fine two window replacement for the Explorer. Free too.

Scripts go in sigscr.dat, not in sigcfg.dat. If you put the scripts for these signals in sigcfg there is no telling what it will do.
Even if you actually find line 655, it may not be the problem. Depending on what is wrong, it might be somewhere else, but line 655 is where the interpreter detected an error.

RE: Error in sigcfg.........*argh*
Got the terminology mixed up. I know better than to put the sigscr stuff in the sigcfg file. :)
Now that I have dl'd the new editor, maybe I can find something. Thanks for the link Dick.
Like I say though, I am at a complete loss what I may have done. Kept the proper number of )'s and such.
Oh well. I'll keep trying.....
Thanks,
Todd
