RE: Now what did I do?!
I guess I'm officially a route builder now... I'm talking to myself... but, I fumbled onto a fix. I tried several more times with demex and regenerated the tiles with no changes. Since I had a couple backups I decided to forge onwards. I went back into the RGE, located the tiles in question, deleted them from the quad tree, saved the quad tree, reloaded the quad tree, and re-populated the bad tiles.. 2 of them, and saved it again. Back into demex, and bingo! this time the 2 tiles match the surrounding terrain perfectly. i don't know if it's something I messed up in the original generation of the tiles, or if it's something I did along the way. in any case, the problem is solved. now I think I'll just fly along the markers for the remaining 50 miles to see if there are any other surprises waiting up ahead.

See how flast it is on the too-low part and to-high part? I think that is where the DEM ends. Download DEM for that area. THat happens in several places along my route.

I've run into this same problem several times in the past. You figured out the procedure that I would recommend.... delete and rebuild the tiles from RGE and on from there....

Now what did I do?!
I thought I had it made. But apparently not. I originally used demex and a seamless dem to build the route terrain. It all looked great.
I started laying track and have covered about 25 tiles with everything looking/working great. then tonight as I progressed, I came upon this. It's as if one entire tile is raised up too much, and the one next to ('south') of it is too low. This picture doesn't show it becasue of the elevation of the camera to get the shot, but just to the west, all tiles are perfectly fine. Just the the 2 you can see in the picture are off... one being a big square mountain, the other a big square valley. I tried regenerating the tiles in question with demex with no change. Is there a fix for this sort of thing, or is it possible that the seamless dem I have has some errors in it? I knew it was all going too well! Any help appreciated!
