Default A problem with my route

    Hello Everyone,

Since several months I've been working with a Berlin-Warszawa Express route. The first part of the project would be about to be released and I've been finishing it last days... A problem occured, which I solved by rebuilding the track database. Everething works fine now, but... I came across something I have never seen before. The route can't be loaded into the Activity Editor, although it appears in the list. I select it but it doesn't load. The Act editor freezes... I'm a bit depressed about it. The Route Editor works normally. Could anybody help me? Does anybody know a solution?

    Greetings from Warsaw, Poland

Hi Michal and welcome aboard. There could be many reasons for this. Does it load in RE OK? Check your folders and make sure you have the following: activities, paths, and services. Have you changed the start tile since the original RGE extraction? In my route, I have changed the start tile about 20 times and now when I do a TDB rebuild, even if it is successful, it leaves some surprises. These are usually in the form of vertical track misalignments or corrupt road sections.

If you can provide more information, it may be easier to help you find your problem.

Yes, the route loads normally into the Rote Editor. Currently I'm rebuilding the tdb manually by clicking on each separate track section in the editor.
As I wrote the problem is that I can't load the route into the Activity Editor. The route doesn't appear in the main window after selecting. The main windows remains blank and the whole program freezes. It's a severe problem for me since I can't make any path for the route, which makes it unplayable...
I don't know what could be the problem. I use XTracks, currently v 3.9. I have never changed the start tile, since I use the geographical coordinates.

    Michal,

did you have Activities for this Route before ? Should have to test it during the various development stages ! ;-)

If so, DELETE them all, *.act, *.pat and *.srv and try to OPEN / NEW in the Activity Editor.

    Cal and Otto,

Figured I might as well jump in here to, as I now have a problem with my route - CP Belleville Sub. Route is no longer in existence as far as the Route Editor goes, and when I try to open an activity, I get - Activity failed to load - no activity header" message. My backup won't even load either. Athlon 2400 processor, 120GB Western Digistal hardrive spinning at max 7200 rpm, cruising at 4400 rpm, 128Mb GeForce 5200, Direct X 9. installed, 512 Mb DDRAM. Mighty frustrating, yes, but after laying 50+ miles with no problems whatsoever, I knew it was coming.

    Any help appreciated, as always.

    Clinton,

Try what I suggested above: DELETE all the Route's Activities, *.act, *.pat and *.srv files and try to create a new one with OPEN / NEW in the Activity Editor.

If the AE can see the Route to let you create a new Activity then the RE should see it too. ;-) Fingers crossed ! :-)

    Otto,

Nothing in the AE, or the RE for that matter, with all .srv, .pat., and act. files deleted. My route has just vanished from existence as far as MSTS goes.

Going to try an see what the RGE has to say, maybe something lies in there.

Will post a response, but the light is getting dimmer.

    Thanks again, Otto.

    Otto,

As far as the RGE is concerned, the tiles still exist, because when I go to generate them, it asks to overwrite.

I am starting to think that this may be a registry kind of thing, like the Acitivy Editor and its missing service points, or message points for that matter. Does this make sense to you?

    Otto,

It appears that things have gone from bad to worse, as now I cannot enter the Editors or the sim, I am stranded with no more MSTS. Does a reinstall sound in order?

Thanks, as always for your time, it's always appreciated.

Looks like you got yourself into a bit of Quicksand there, Clinton and sinking fast ! ;-)

I wish there was a way for you to send me the whole new Route Folder ! It's always difficult trying to sort things out not sitting in front of the machine concerned. Had the same problem with Frank Carver from Australia. Was not until he came to visit, bringing a CD of his Route with him that we were able to figure out what his problem was !

First of all move the new Route's folder somewhere else and see whether that lets you get back into the Editors and MSTS without having to do a MSTS INSTALL again.

Having accomplished that, then we shall have to think about what next to try. Right now I am running out of suggestions ! :-(
