Problem with Tunnels
I have never built a route, but I enjoy making additions to existing routes. I have learned how to add trackage, signals, stations, change terrain textures etc. using RE, but when I try to create a tunnel I always end up having to drive through a terrain wall to enter the tunnel. It makes no difference whether I lay the track first and then raise a hill over the top of it, or lay thr tunnel track through an existing hill. That wall is always there. What am I doung wrong?

RE: Problem with Tunnels
Yep, it's not very obvious, what you have to do is put your cursor above the track, then press the "V" button, it will make part of the terrain invisible, then use rocks, tunnel portals, and patches of terrain to cover the hole...

RE: Problem with Tunnels
John,
unfortunately it's not as easy as Rob makes it sound. ;-)
You got to "Cut" a hole into the terrain first, insert Tunnel Portals, etc and then cover any gaps with Terrain patches, a pain in the neck to do ! :-(
But most of all you could do with MIKE VONE's "Guide to Route Building", available from ABACUS at a mere pittance ! :-)

Thanks for you help, Otto and Rob. I just learned of "Guide to Route Building" earlier today and am definitely going to buy it.

RE: Problem with Tunnels
John,
I keep forgetting to mention a great Web Site for getting Hints & Tips on Route Building and much more:
