RMD-4, version 2
Colleagues,
Version 2 of the RMD-4 has been uploaded and Nels will probaby have it
out tomorrow. I have asked him to remove the earlier version, but keep the fixes file on the server for a while to protect any of you that got the 1st version, are satisfied, but need to correct the two small glitches.
I tried to make a update file, but was unsuccessful, so I have put a full version out again.
Those of you who download it, can run "Generic Milwaukee West" (or I may have called it "Generic_Milw_West". When you do, you are in charge of a hot train with 40 cars of new automobiles - hopefully not Mercedes, or Caddys cause I don't think these cars will clear all the tunnels. You may meet the first eastbound around Cyr, and if so he is probably in the hole. (The generic eastbound goes into all of the holes). 90 minutes behind him is another, 180 minutes another, and so on, there being 5 or 6 eastbounds in all.
Eventually, you will be held at a signal, holding the main, the delay may be 30' or more - at which point you can curse the unlucky break dealt you by an inept dispatcher in far off Chicago, who does not have a clue about this territory, though he is assigned to it -- sound familiar -- like UP dispatchers --- like CSX dispatchers today.
Alternatively, you can go into activity editor and run this sim. at 128X and see what happens.
One caveat that I cannot explain. The signal on the track monitor clears (it is hidden under the scenery), and as you move out and pass the home block signal it is still RED, but does not seem to affect operation, so I guess that is just one of the tradeoffs in an effort to get a pure ABS system. All of the supplied activities use generic default rollingstock.
Enjoy.
