Default Trainz - serial number invalid

I purchased Trainz about 10 months ago and registered my serial number at Auran. I have been unable to download any files from the official site or post any messages for the last three months because, according to them, my serial number was not registered with my profile. I tried entering my serial number and was told that the serial number was already in use. I have sent a couple emails with copies of my receipt to rectify the problem but have not had a response. Anybody have any ideas what to do next? Thanks!

Yes, I did send emails to the helpdesk. In fact, I received a reply from them that my emails were received. However, I haven't heard anything since(almost a month). I tried the forums but had problems logging in to them in a way. I successfully logged in but couldn't post because I haven't registered my serial number. It's kind of an endless loop. Thanks for your suggestions.

Go into General Trainz Discussion. You can post there even if you dont have serial number registerd.

Your serial number must have been hacked into.

    Hi....
Stopped by & saw your post ref not being able to register at Auran.....I have both Trainz and MSTS, and I think Auran is doing a major DISERVICE to all those who own Trainz (second hand), as many times the original owers have registered the serial number, and that leaves any subsequent owners out in the cold........

They prevent you from downloading any of the items they have in their "Download Station", unless you register your serial number.....THANK GOD MSTS downloads from Train-sim.com are available to anyone who owns the sim without having to register the game....

There are a few independent Trainz sites that have downloads avail, to them I say, THANK YOU................

Trainz is a nice sim, but appears Auran's Download Station is only for the select few (those who paid retail).....Its a shame that they cannot open the downloads up for all to enjoy.......I guess when its all said and done you have to go where you are treated right..............Nuff Said........................

(PS This is not a bash at Trainz as I happen to enjoy Trainz very much, its just my opinion on Auran's policy for registering the game serial number - Ragtop 156:(

I'm not sure of your point here Ragtop. Are you suggesting that we spend money supporting the downloads of people who haven't spent any money on buying our product? Buy it, register it, download new stuff -what's so hard about that? :)

....besides you can re-register the serial number given to you when you bought the game 2nd hand off a friend. Providing of course that the friend de-register's his copy off Auran's site.

Then you can download to your hearts content.

    Regards

Sorry Axe, no re-registering allowed. We don't mind supporting people who paid us for a product but decided that supporting second hand software was going to be a big task without a big reward. The official line is that you can only register your copy once and that way only those that bought the product originally can take advantage of all the benefits of registering (additional forums, download station, and, with UTC, in-game automated search and download). What you do with the disk is very hard to police.
