    Default Where to find RT3

I am searching for Railroad tycoon 3 to purchase, but I look online and what not, and come up short with nothing. Also, does it make a difference being on Vista and installing it with a disc made for XP?

Have you tried looking under the walmart website? They seem to have everything.

You can sometimes find it in the bargain bin at your local PC Game rack. I found a few available at a Target store near me.

As for Vista, it's a bit problematic running RT3 on a Vista system but some folks have been somewhat successful at it, however, your install will be limited to the 1.03 patch and possibly the 1.04 beta patch, if you can find it, but you won't be able to install the Coast to Coast Expansion, the 1.05 patch, nor the user created 1.06 patch.
Because of this there will be a lot of maps available at my site that you won't be able to run due to the fact that you would need the C to C expansion, the 1.05 patch, or the 1.06 patch (most are marked as to what version the map requires)

There is a guy over at my forum that is working on a new version for RT3 called 'Trainmaster - Expert Edition' and it's being created to run on Vista.

There is also a version available at the Steam site, but it's my understanding that this version is not really worth the trouble of buying it and I don't believe it will run on a Vista system.

I am having RT3 withdrawels right now, I use to play it a lot cause it was fun to build my own personal railroads. Specially when bored of MSTS.

try ebay. I'm sure you'll find it there. You can buy anything on ebay (except guns) i'd try there. They have the stragety guide on there for only $128.00 (bit pricey) but ya check ebay.

Better late than never but Steam has it bundled with other RRT games.

Id break down into tears if I lost my RRT3 disk.

By the way hawkdog has the coast to coast expansion available for free.

Strategy Guide, what is this blasphamey, I learned my stuff the hard way

I can't seem to find my play disk, i know where i put it, in with another game in that games case, trouble is, NOW I CAN'T FIND THAT GAME CASE, and i did that on purpose so i wouldn't loose the disc, go figure.

Also, if you are worried about vista, I think windows 7 is coming out soon, i wonder how well RT3 would work on that. I hear Windows 7 is suppose to totally replace vista +XP as to the fact that Vista failed at its job to replace XP.

Win 7 is built on the Vista core. It's almost like Microsoft used the public as beta testers with Vista so they could get all the bugs worked out for Win 7.
