    Talking Silverliner V EPICNESS!!!

Tonight, Nov. 4th, 2010 @ 8:10 PM, I saw an actuall Silverliner V Actually in service for the first time. Train 1256 at Folcroft station on the Wilmington/Newark Delaware line I saw Silverliner V's in service. Does anybody know if they're actually in service now? Another question, has anyone started a design for MSTS yet? Just wondering. Not looking forward to it, that would be just greedy and rude.

I think they're supposed to be slowly brought into service and have them all in before Summer of next year.

Personally, I still like the Silverliner II's and III's better...

The 3 Silverliner V pilot cars made their revenue service debut last Friday.

As happens with all things SEPTA, first production cars are now delayed until at least December delivery, and all 120 supposedly won't be in service until well in to 2013. Hopefully the Budds and Louies can last that long.

Thanks for the info there Joe. Not shocked by the delay, that just seems to happen a lot anymore. And I think they can. They've lasted this long, so here's to hoping they make it the rest of the way.

Sigh, It will a very sad day when all of the Silverliner II and III's retire. I guess we have until 2013 to say our goodbyes. Hey, has anybody on the forum actually rode on the V's yet? Saturday (according to SEPTA's website) I'll try to catch Train 9711 departing from Temple to Trenton. I want to see for my self how they are as far as being comfortable. By the way, thanks for answering my questions.

That's because SEPTA will do anything to get free or reduced-price equipment, and expects everything built for them to surpass perfection, accordingly. This is why nobody (on a factory floor) likes building things for them.

Well, I took the ride and to my surprise, I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be. The automatic stop call system was a bit pointless, along with the TV monitor system. The only thing I see the monitors good are for the deaf people. Also, for some reason, the conductors kind of look out of place inside the car. It seems like they look bored. As far as everything else, it looked good. We'll see how they look in 10-20 years. Although, I have to admit I like the fact that you can actually see through the front window now. No more looking in the door and seeing the Engineer's big head. XD
