It's a work of art, really.

One thing you might consider at this early stage is the route template. Looks like you used the the San Bernadino to Barstow template, with that ground texture. You might find it a bit time saver later on if you figure out how to switch over to one of the European routes as a template.

    Hi Gwgardner,

I've download some DEM files in order to be more reallistic for the field but I'm affraid to use it. I should have done it before building all these tracks ... And I hope I do not have to destroy all !

Is there any way to correct the environment of my route without destroying everything ?

I'm no expert in using the DEM files. The big question, I would think, is whether in the work you've done already, you have it at the proper elevation from sea level. If you start using the DEMS, everything's going to be at the proper sea level, which could leave your yard way down below if you didn't start off with the proper level.

Hopefully some DEM experts out there would be able to help you with that issue, or determine if it is an issue.

With regard to the correct environment, assuming you have not done any ground texturing already, I would think it would be a simple matter of editing your route template file. Again, I'm no expert. You should be able to find a thread on that issue here somewhere, or perhaps someone who knows will offer a suggestion. I'm sure that Michael Stephan (GreatNortherner) would know how to make that changeover.

    Sorry I'm not much help.

    Very dear all,

Some news from my route... I was quite busy because I've decided to take into account the DEM file for my route. The most "pain in my XXX" things was to check all the object and to use "L" or "J" option in order to elevate everything from my original route ! That's done, now ! And if I had an advise to give to a newbie, I would say that it is mandatory to first take into account the elevation of the field before doing anything... !

    Bye...
