"Missing file" prevents MSTS Tools from starting - but MSTS runs alright !?
Hi,
I recently copied my data HDD to another HDD, using Windows Explorer. Now I can still play MSTS, but whenever I try to start the MSTS Tools (the screnn with the Route Editor, Consist Editor etc.), I get the error message that some file (unspecified) was missing and I might have to reinstall MSTS.
I dunno what file is missing, I activated "Show all files including system and hidden files" in the Windows Explorer options and copied everything folder by folder.
Any ideas ?
Update: On my base installation of MSTS, which resides on my system HDD, not the data HDD, I cannot open the tools, neither ! But nothing changed on that HDD ! What the heck ...

OK, the latest update and solution to the problem (writing about stuff really helps to concentrate and find solutions):
I had set the registry path to an empty folder for the installation and reviewing of new material.
When I changed the registry path to a valid MSTS installation, I suddenly was able to start the MSTS Tools once again ! And that means all MSTS Tools of all my installations, not just the one linked in the registry path.
Maybe this is of some help for people having a similar problem some day.

All you have to do is to add -toolset to the end of the Train.exe path and any copy of MSTS can use it's editors that way as long as MSTS has been installed into the Registry.
