OpenRails will handle 5x8 cabviews (either at 1920x1200 of 2560x1600) no problems and has done so for a while. So far I have done 5 for my own use all being Victorian and SA (Australia) machines, images of three being on Elvastower. These are not difficult to do particularly if one is usd to image manipulation and the CVF file. What I do is to produce the cab view image at a ratio of 5x8 at a resolution of 2560x1600, this size makes the final cabview clearer (the larger the better). This in then scaled to 1024x1024 and converted to an ACE file. OpenRails is run as a cabview viewer and the CVF file is edited to put the required controls and gauges to suit the new background. I am currently experimenting to see if OR will handle a larger ACE file size than 1024x1024. One will be able to produce some awesome cabviews if it does.
