    Hi,

    Thanks everybody!

The first pack will be, if all goes as planned, the whole line of GN SD7s throughout their life. So that would be the as-delivered model like in the pictures above, with white stripe on the frame and standard cab fittings, then the later Empire Builder version with winterization hatch, bay window cab, and white dashed stripe on the frame, and then all the later models (simplified Empire Builder, Big Sky Blue, and BN). According to Ben Ringnalda's GreatNorthernEmpire.net all of these engines were retired/sold in 1983.

    Cheers,
    Michael

    Hi,

I think it's done, more or less. I just checked, the first saved copy of the source file dates back to July 2010, so ... wow! Two years!!!

All basic components of this model are now done. It runs, albeit only based on the default F7 with some modified parameters. So it is nothing fancy, but everything works. The 3D cab is working too, although some parts are still missing (don't look at the back wall!). I'll add them at a later point, for now I just want to leave this engine for a longer while and get back to other projects.

The first kit of the SD7 should hit my website soon. It will be an all-GN pack, featuring their line of phase-1 SD7s. You'll get the as-delivered model in Empire Builder scheme, with solid white stripes on the frame, and the later modified version with bay windows and winterization hatch. Also included are the Simplified paint scheme and the Big Sky Blue paint scheme. All four engines run long hood forward and don't have dynamic brakes.

At some later point I'll also add the phase-2 fittings, with the newer hand rail stanchions, horns mounted on the winterization hatch, and so on.
BN versions of both phases will be added too. Somewhere along the line there's also going to be a short hood forward model.

    Cheers,
    Michael

    PS: on home rails...

    Hi,

This went a lot quicker than I thought it would: My EMD SD7 has just been released. Yay for free afternoons! :-D I tested it in the newly updated TS2012 and it seems to work fine. This is the first stable release of my SD7 model and it runs okay. Some future refinements, most of them on the cab model, still need to be made and will be released as a future update.

You can download the GN SD7 Pack here:
    http://golden-age-rails.com/freightc.../emdsd7gn.html

A small patch is now available too.
It fixes a glitch in the braking simulation and adds the bogie and coupling sounds which I forgot. Sorry for these errors!
Please install this small package file on top of the main installer: http://golden-age-rails.com/freeware..._GN-Patch1.rwp

    Cheers,
    Michael

This loco also works in ts2013, also, where did you get the seattle route?
