Sorry for the late response. The traction motors and electrical equipment will be built at the Siemens plant in Alpharetta, Georgia, while the locomotives themselves will be built at their Sacramento factory.

Which is not too far from where I live. Just wish I could have some time to scout out the plant and just watch history unfold...alas.

I think I've found something in the f/l that maybe similar to or may actually be the ACS-64 model. http://www.trainsim.com/kdl.php?fid=23948

With a little grit, spit, and a lot of duct tape along with some repainting here and there, you'd have the future Amtrak ACS-64

You are correct Cory, it is a model of the Eurosprinter, the locomotive that is the basis for the ACS-64. I'm trying to improve my repainting skills, but other than adding rudimentary weathering I'm no better off. I'll put a request for the repaint in the Items Wanted forum if enough people are interested in having an ACS-64.

The problem with using any European model is getting rid of the darn buffers and dealing with the different pantograph height. Those were issues with some of the ALP 46 models out there too.

By the way, am I weird because I like the GG-1, the AEM-7, the Acela and this new locomotive too? I just like electrics because they make me happy seeing them streak by at top speed.

Well then, is anyone up to the task of creating a new shape based off this Eurosprinter?

Well I've developed a fondness to the E60MA after modeling. In HO and repainting one here along with the HHP-8. This is one locomotive I'd hate to see go so soon especially well before its time.

    I don't think that the ES64U2 can be a base for a ACS-64.
Completely different body, different placement of pantographs, that face in the opposite directions and so on...
According to wikipedia, the wheelbase is the same, so you might be able to use the trucks and the frame, but the rest would have to be rebuilt from scratch with a freightanim. And then the pantos wouldn't work...
Might as well built a whole new model from scratch.

They are identical, only a little difference, I wish my skills were up to par to try it!

There's no real schematic available yet for the ACS-64 other than simple concept drawings so if you decide to model it, it will most likely be freelance. As of now, the said model is the closest unit available.
