    Default Crossing Bell's

    I a building the BNSF Chicago route. I was just wondering
    if any one found a way to make the Bell stop ringing once
    the gate goes down? Modified Crossing.sms? If so, Settings?

    The BNSF Route in real life is that way. Thank you!

    The bells stop ringing when the gates 'down' or 'up' - after the train clears it do you mean? Never heard of the bells stopping before the train hits the crossing.

    I think it could be possible to alter the SMS to work that way. Just want to be sure I understand you correctly first off.

    Yes, actually there a few areas I railfan along BNSF, CSX and NS mainlines that react this way. The bells go silent after a short time, after the gates are down and in position.
    The lights continue flashing, as normal.
    The bells start ringing just before the gates go back up.

    Wow, that's interesting! I'm guessing here, but if a ample amount of crossing bell sample could be had - 30sec or a minutes worth. The SMS could be set to play 'one shot', and a copy of that stream parenthesis below that would trigger again as the gates go up?

    Streams ( 2
    Stream (
    Priority ( 5 )
    Triggers ( 2
    Discrete_Trigger ( 3
    PlayOneShot ( 1
    File ( "crossing.wav" -1 )
    SelectionMethod ( RandomSelection )
    )
    )
    Discrete_Trigger ( 4
    ReleaseLoopRelease () )
    )

    Something like that?

    Wouldn't it be simpler to have the "bell" sound silent and have the sounds of the gate lowering and raising as the actual bell recording?

    As I recall, each crossing has three sounds that play (or can play), the bell sound, the sound of the gate lowering and the sound of the gate rising. The lowering and raising sounds only play when the barrier moves, while the bell sound is continual.

    For me, I make the crossing bells on all my routes audible for cab and passenger views. So maybe on this BNSF route, one would hear them faintly in the cab as well on approach, and fall silent before that 4th long horn blast. And heard again from a observation or rear passenger car view?
