It's iconic, and visually one of the best routes ever created prior to OpenRails...
And, it's back!
We're hosting the file here at Trainsim to help our our friends at 3DTrains, who have been without a sales site for over two years now.
There's an Information Page with details on the route, how to purchase, and how to install.
This is one that I missed out on, and will be adding to my collection. I hope everyone who missed out on it will do likewise!
If you are looking for additional train sets to run on the route, two great packs are available over at TrainSimulations.net including a newly released Western Pacific set with GP40's and over 30 freight cars, which looks spectacular from the screen shots others have shared.
They also have the 1984 Union Pacific set that was created especially for this route. That has over 50 freight cars and six activities for the 3DT route and DD40, SD40 and GP9 models.
To see the route in action with some BLW equipment.... At The Railyard did a superb review.
Links to the BLW sets can be found on the information page.
Even Amtrak is at home here, as it has served as a detour route for the present-day California Zephyr between Winnemucca, NV and Roseville, CA from time to time (and when it does, expect it to sell out as quickly as word spreads).
All in all... this route is going to give you lots of options for equipment and activities.
And... since it's Tax Day, if you're one of those lucky enough to be getting a refund from your state or federal filing, this is a great way to put it to use. And maybe a First Class Membership go to with it?
Eric, does this version fix the issue with the car washers? In my MSTS copy, they don't work in Open Rails.
