AT&SF C30-7 Coal Train Set
$12 to download
Set includes six C30-7 locomotives(orange warning beacon era). Three in original 'yellowbonnet' paint scheme and three in the SP/SF merger 'Kodachrome' paint scheme. Also included is a set of ATSF coal hoppers and an ATSF caboose.
The Santa Fe owned 157 GE C30-7's, making them the second largest original owner of these locomotives after the Burlington Northern RR.
Merger Paint: In 1983, the Santa Fe and Southern Pacific railroads merged as the Santa Fe Southern Pacific Corporation...at least on paper. Although not yet approved by the ICC, the SFSP began repainting locomotives from both railroads in the 'Kodachrome' paint scheme. Three years later the merger was denied and the newly created entity was forced to sell one of the railroads. In 1988 the SP was sold to the D&RGW for $1.02 billion and in 1995 the Santa Fe merged with the Burlington Northern in a holding company. That merger was approved in 1996 to create the largest freight railroad in the U.S.
