    trainz 2009 routes

Hey. Can someone please tell me what routes are included with trainz 2009?

    #2
Only old routes from previous versions of Trainz, UTC, 2004, 2006, TC1&2, but not the UK routes from TC3. Just same old same old recycled.

I have to agree with fitz. Same routes recycled. Most of them old, tired and not all that good.

But, hey, there's are some excellent ones on the Trainz Download Station. The only problem is sorting the wheat from the chaff.

            I sent you an email.

Is this your route or a file route? After all these years with MSTS, should I dare play with my TZ2006?

              Hi Hank --

Yes, I've just seen your e-mail. I'll get back to you soonest.

It's a route that I've put together in TRS2004 called "IndustRail 2", though those screen shotz above are in TRS2009. I find it easier to build in '04 though frame rates are significantly better in '09 than '04. In addition, the Service Patch for '09 shunts the AI trainz onto the second core of a dual core PC, overcoming the big frame rate hit that used to occur with intensive AI operations in '04 and '06.

I've also done a Trainz equivalent of Jim's Port Ogden & Northern. A few screen shotz:

I'm in the process of making the changes needed to make this run in TRS2009.

All the dependencies (about 180MB in total) for IndustRail and PO&N are on the Trainz Download Station.

              " ... should I dare play with my TZ2006?"

Nope. Get TRS2009 instead (it's just a few bucks), download Service Patch 1, buy a First Class Ticket for the Trainz Download Station giving you unlimited higher speed downloads, and get IndustRail, PO&N and RiversideRailroad.

This all amazing, I was using the UTC and it's add on routes collection for2006 - are the route add-ons from the UTC already in trainz2009 or is that i can install them from the UTC discs

                  93 --

I'm not sure about your question. Are you running UTC or '09? If the latter you will find all my routes and layouts on the Trainz Download Station. Some are for '04, some for later versions of Trainz. As a general rule, if you have '09 all my earlier routes should install and run on it.

With one proviso -- some of my routes have been "updated" by well-wishing other content creators and while it might retain my original description "This route is for Trainz 2004" the update means that it may only work in later editions.

One suggestion. If your PC has the grunt and if you have the finances, perhaps consider updating to Trainz TRS19. The scenic effects are overwhelmingly better. This is one of my "work in progress" routes, an update of a route in an earlier version of Trainz:

thanks for you reply Phil - sorry to be clear, what i am wanting to do is run Trainz 2009, but i dont think it has all the extra routes from teh UTC - there was a routes collection 1-4 in the UTC that i would like to install into trainz 2009 if that will work.

i think i could run trainz 19 but i just dont have teh extra money for it now, and i want to get more to grips with what i have first.

i was looking on the DLS for your port ogden and industrail routes but could not find them - what should i search for them under? i did come across the modded versions

i dod see you have an explore session for Port Ogden - is that what i get? it will install the route and everything?

there was mention of a rapidshare link where you have all 9 sessions for it, but the link is broken, so is it possible still to get these?

UTC was well before my time. I started with TRS2004. I dunno what routes were included in UTC and if they aren't on the DLS I'm not sure how you would get them, and all the required dependencies, into '09.

The best way to find my routes on the DLS is to search by author. Just type "philskene" in the search box, select author and from the drop down, layouts. You should find quite a few for the various editions of Trainz.

Rapidshare. It went belly up a long time ago. Unfortunately some of my material disappeared with it too, including those sessions. But there should be other sessions of mine for the route on the DLS.
