    ISO Desert Wood Ground Texture(s)

    Hi All,

    Right now, I am in search of the ground textures that were used on the Desert Wood route. I am including 2 screenshots to show off the texture(s) that I am talking about. Also, In the second picture. You can see that near the track. The ground slopes. Can someone tell me how that is done properly?

    There ain't no wood in the desert, that's why it's a desert!

    First item, in content manager you select a route and right click, View Dependencies, then select View in Main List to see a complete list of dependencies. Want to know about a specific type, sort the list by type;

    Then scroll down to find the icon for textures, environment. Select all the textures and right click, select "copy to clipboard". Switch to notepad, paste, now you have a list of all the textures used in the route.

    In surveyor, select the paintbrush tool, then the pick tool. Left click on the terrain to find out what any texture is.

    I can't duplicate what you were talking about on the other forum, make sure you're selecting the correct tool before clicking on the terrain.

    Last item, topography tool to raise or lower terrain;

    Play with the settings for radius, sensitivity, and others for a while. Got a big washout under the track, to fix that;

    Select the tracklaying tool, click the little "advanced" button to get the bottom menu, then select the "smooth spline height" tool, which does nothing to the spline height but actually snaps the terrain up underneath any track section you click on. Near as I can tell there's no MSTS style settings for width, cutting or embankment angle. You get whatever you want as long as you want 45 degrees, otherwise you're SOL.

      Thank you Jim - I will take a look at it sometime tomorrow when my eyes are fresh than they are right now. And I will also print this thread out and considering that my wife is sleeping at the moment. I dont want to start the printer up as the bedroom is just on the other side of the wall. Thanks again......

        Hey Jim - You talked about the "smooth spline height" tool. Does that also fix a issue when the terrain is over the track as well?

          Get a quieter printer or trade her in on a deaf girl, don't you know trainsimming is a priority? Anyway yeah, using that oddly labeled tool ("smooth spline height" when it has nothing to do with the spline height, and you don't click on the splines, you click on the ribbon of track between splines, even turning my monitor upside down I spend hours trying to figure out what these Aussies are actually saying) works the same as selecting a track piece and hitting Y in MSTS. Why they put that tool into the tracklaying advanced tools instead of the terrain height tools where you would logically expect to find it is another Down Under mystery.

            Read the manual?

            Guys --

            There is a manual that covers this.

            Depending on which version of Trainz you have and where you installed it, try looking in something like Program Files\Auran\TS12\Extras\Documentation. Look for TS12_Manual_US.pdf

                    So you are saying that it is in the track laying advance tools section. Correct???
