Definitely an error then Vern, i think the Assertion messages only appear in the beta versions.

I just tried that Maintenance Service session. Loco with yank sounds.

Sorry i thought you knew how to change between, baby knob, realistic drive (cough cough) and inserting commands mode.

Tried Orient session as well, cruddy cabview in steam loco.

The mountains in the distance look worse than DTG's.

Sorry but i would not recommend this to my worst enemy.

    Mike.

Vern, did your locomotive suffer a mechanical problem and is now under repair?

Sorry Bruce, don't understand the question. Maintenance Service is the name of the Session and requires you to pass along the route picking up other vehicles at defined locations.

Maybe you guys need to give the team who made this route a little slack? Unlike the 100+ employees at DTG it's not their full time job. I imagine most are brain surgeons, rocket scientists, ... who work over 15 hours a day, are single parents and have to juggle the demands of young children and work. For them Trainz is just a hobby (though as we all know, never let a hobby become your work).

Even worse, they don't have the resources to do custom structures, locomotives, cabs, and such like. They have to do what I do -- make do with what is available.

As for quality control, the one or two full time staff members at N3V are flat out making posts in the Trainz Forums, fielding criticisms from you guys.

I make 'orrible quality control mistakes even on the small one or two board layouts. This, for example, took three uploads to the Download Station to get it right:

When I eventually got to download my original upload to the DLS I found the rock ledges were missing. Then the second upload used a brick wall not on the DLS. The third upload might be about right, but then I'm never sure about that either.

So all in all I admire the grit, determination and effort of the team who put that new TRS19 route together. It's certainly not the sort of thing I'd embark on. In fact, I'm very curious about the N3V selection process for the routes to include in TRS19. There was no "request for submissions" as in the earlier versions of Trainz. So I suspect it was an approach by N3V to various authors based on previous efforts and reputation.

And the outcome? Well, you have to admit it has been well received over at the Trainz Forums. Much more so than previous releases. In fact, it's the only built-in route of any Trainz release that has been well received. All the others have been of remarkably poor quality.

I've just run the freight session on this route. Correction - part of the session. I got bored and exited.

The graphics aren't up to the same standard as the DGT routes. In fact, there is no comparison between the two -- DGT is light years ahead in term of detail, smoothness, scenic effects and Driver immersion. So, to be very honest, if you want to do these sort of sessions (just train running) go for the DGT simulation.

If, however, you want to do your own route/layout construction then TRS19 provides you with the tool box.

I'll stick to my model layouts.

Ah! I went to change it and something went wrong with the upload process. Haven't had time to fix it yet. "Big Blue" is doing fine, just coming up on 5000 miles on the clock.

Phil - please accept we are making constructive criticism. The point is, N3V are taking a vast sum of money for TRS2019 compared to previous versions. That means a certain minimum expectation when it comes to the default content. The Sebino route actually looks quite nice and having run it a bit, I haven't seen the TRS2004 style look that Harold is finding. However I do have issues with passing off 10+ year old trains that rely on a slightly mashed up old Red Hen cab and 17 year old Alco sounds, which were not exactly state of the art then. The fact this is marked as payware, means we cannot (I assume) edit the config and change the cab or sounds to something more pleasing.

My next step will probably be setting up a session that either uses one of the K&L locos or possibly the excellent freeware Class 37 that was mentioned a few weeks ago. In a "train" simulation, the fidelity of the trains is actually quite important!

It's funny when an avatar suddenly goes missing.....which is why I picked up on it.
Glad to read that the vee-hick-ell is performing well. How old is it?

Just over a year. Quite low mileage but hopefully cover a bit more distance once I retire. Which is this coming Wednesday... Hoorah!

Hmmm, well, sorry Phil, but, you forget that many of us on here have been around Trainz for a long time. I am a lifemember of the TrainzItalia forum, a subscription I paid for several years ago, and like Harold's screenshot above, lots of us paid for their American routes Rollins Pass and West from Denver, which even several years ago were very well made and a far better standard than most others that were made into payware content at the time. Subsequently, when many of us saw this route we automatically thought that Jango and Carlo and Roberto Conti had pulled the stops out and produced something superb in TZ19 but, it appears that they have taken 4 steps backwards, instead, very disappointing really, they aren't newbies, they are experienced developers, we expected better........

                      Cheerz. Steve.

To be fair to Jango, after I commented about the level crossing issue on the Trainz forum he is looking to see if he can sort it out.

What we don't know with any of these routes is what is going on behind the scenes and politics. I'm sure N3V are all nicey nicey when it comes to commissioning work but slam down the iron fist when deadlines start approaching. Still as I said the route doesn't look all that bad, mainly the Italian rolling stock that is off. As suspected, currently payware locked so I can't update the config file to alias something better.

Nice to see a new avatar,Vern. What's that one?

You've only done 5000 miles?! Gee....if you were Down Here you'd have racked up more than that in twelve months, that's for sure.

Good news on the retirement front.....you can now join all of us who found that they have far more to occupy their time but not enough hours in the day, mate!

Whatever loco or rolling stock you want to adjust Vern, just clone it first.

                              A completely unrealistic, unprototypical mess.

I gather also even more of a resource hog than the previous version.

In better news the first public patch seems to have gone in without causing any major issues.
