No tense waiting for TRS2019 killing another thing I use.

Back to TANE SP1 and route building.

TANE SP1 supports all I will ever use.

Glad the waiting for updates is over.

Contrary to popular belief I really love Trainz, the game coulda been a contender.

They deleted this over at the N3V forums.

      Sales must really be bad.

Sales are bad. Someone asked if the game was available on Steam yet, 'cos if it was crap they could get a full refund. I don't think it would take 2 hours to make that decision, do you?..........LOL

          Hi Steve --

But, on the other hand, I get many comments along the lines "I've seen your videos and this has encouraged me to buy TRS19."

Maybe I should get a spotter's fee? Perhaps my small model layouts appeal more than the expansive prototypical built-in routes?

Your layouts (and I've said this at least once before now) are exactly what Trainz is all about, Phil.

Hello Phil, happy new year to you Sir. I stand alongside everyone who says that your routes are the bees knees, I've said it myself countless times, however, to have to pay 70 bucks for TRZ19 just to download your routes for someone on sick benefits is just not a viable proposition at the moment, otherwise I would have already done it. Your layouts are always constructed to an amazingly high standard and well thought out as you put so much effort in to each build utilising the DLS assets accordingly, but, you provide something different, a niche side to the game as not everyone I don't think is into these types of garage/attic routes, but, I'm sure you have many fans, I'll cheerlead for you anytime, I do still have you older offerings on my TANE installation, but, they don't have the modern graphical attributes, if every route builder did things to your quality then the game would be a complete winner.

              Cheerz. Steve.

Agreed if you are into model toy trains layouts then Trainz is ideal.

Plus Phil is the top man for that sort of route.

                  Hi Folks,

I've always been intrigued by two things with Trainz - the wealth of steam locomotives and how quickly it seems you can create a route... I guess the "TANE" version is the best choice for a newb ? It seems the most products support this version...

Recently got hooked on this guys video series on making a route - it's amazing how quickly he transforms a flat grid into some beautiful scenery...

Trainz is a sandbox game. The game is what you want it to be. Even I can build routes.

Has a great payware DEM machine in TranzDEM.

Everything is straight forward and easy to modify. If you don't like the physics the configs are easy text files.

The best version is TANE. If you aren't against Steam it is on sale until January 3 for $9.99.

                      Is TANE available via DVD?

Must I be connected to the internet in order to run/play a legally installed version of TANE?

Thinking about purchasing it to have it on hand for the day I upgrade my computer.

Andre - N3V still sell TANE on a DVD-ROM though you have to order direct from their online shop in Oz, which will mean international shipping and probably paying import duty (not sure how that works in the US). They also sell as a digital download or if you're not averse to Steam, you can get it through them (advantage being you can try for two hours and refund if not happy).

All current versions of Trainz authenticate with the N3V server when you start the game, probably since TS2010 or TS12 so yes you need to be connected. In any event, you will very quickly find yourself hitting the DLS to gather assets for route building etc. so would need to be online for that.

                            Hi Folks,

As much as I dislike Steam - I have it for when I feel the need to run through the jungles of 1969 Vietnam hunting VC in spider holes via ArmA III's Unsung mod... For $10.00 I added TANE to my account - not sure if I'll ever load it - but now it's there if I want it - thanks for the heads up...

                            Regards,

There was a post on the N3V forum from Tony Hilliam to the effect Steam required some changes to logos/thumbnails due to similarities with their own in house artwork.

Well, requiring authentication prior to launch is a deal breaker. One of the best uses for my simulations is when we're experiencing ISP outage. (Sometimes that's often.) What's the point if I can't play it without a connection?

                                Game over.
