Good grief is not the phrase I'd use Harold, more like, WTF????????

You would have thought from a commercial enterprise that they would have requested Jointed Rail, or, someone equally as good, and well established so consumers knew the quality of their past products, to construct a North American style route for this new Trainz version, and the Russians/Chinese to do something else, so, customers/end-users would have something brand new to play on and it would market their product better. I appreciate that from a British perspective we don't have a countless amount of routes that are of good enough quality to be included in TS2019, The Potteries is already a Payware route so they can't use that one, and I don't really know any others recently constructed that have the length and playabilty mode for new consumers that ECML offers, so, maybe we will be stuck with that for quite some time, yet. And of course, from a business viewpoint, the more money that has to be paid out to 3rd party contributors from sales revenue isn't what Tony Hilliam wants now, is it!!!!

    Cheerz. Steve.

Quite easy to change in TS2018 and Open Rails buddy.

I would be quite happy with ECML updated and extended for TRS2019. It's the only half decent payware UK route for Trainz.

The only other one i have any time for and use, is the freeware GCR\GWR Joint route on the DLS.

I'm not in the Trainz loop (though I've often thought about being in the loop, but my attempts were less than successful)... what are the complaints about the Hinton route?

Not ECML again. Much as I wrinkle my nose up at DTG, the Trainz version doesn't even come close to York - Newcastle bundled in the original Rail Simulator, let alone the later ECML based DLC. Kings Cross to Peterborough is very good!

Unless the route has received a complete makeover, using 2004 era assets and route building standards is hardly what you want as default content in a version of the sim purporting to be the latest and greatest.

I have every respect for the person/people building ECML as it is a labour of love, but it's not prime time standard as bundled content in a 2019 release. There are plenty of route builders who, if asked, could have produced a more focused and shorter UK project specifically for TRS2019. And Hinton, a product of the second most arrogant person (after RoysTrainz) involved with the sim. In TANE, Hinton was stuffed with assets that brought the frame rate down to single figures, wobbly track where the straighten rule hadn't been applied and steam locos that just continued building pressure. Latter admittedly not the fault of the route author but an indictment of the complete lack of quality control over the whole package.

I don't want shorter though Vern, i want a full route and ECML is just that buddy.

Sick to death of all the bits and pieces of routes in TS2018, most of which are modern era rubbish anyway.

Can't believe jacka$$es post misinformation on the N3V forums about discussions here.

Never said that ECML or Hinton were bundled with the new game.

Not sure if that sentiment is aimed at me Harold, well I hope not as it would be a bit CoC breachy like, but you did state this earlier:

N3V is actually parading out ECML and Hinton again.

Non of the Trainz releases ever have, Harold.

That quote should be on desk calendars for the rest of time.

Any screenshots I have taken in T:ane (even latest version) have had to have some gamma adjustment in Photoshop to make them look even slightly interesting. That seems to be one of the weak spots in their graphics engine, high gamma. Lower the gamma and things start looking more realistic and less toy-like.

When the latest T:ane came out a few weeks ago I was hoping that they would provide a new route for us to use to see what the new adjustments would do, especially for graphics. Running any of the routes that came with T:ane, most of which are very old, gives you nothing new to see. If you don't have a route or rolling stock or trackwork, or scenery that is built to take advantage of a new or tweaked graphics engine, then you will be stuck with the same old thing again and agaqin and again. Sort of like running old RS rolling stock and tracks in RW2018. Not impressive.

Actually even RS era items running in TS2018 look better than the equivalent stuff in Trainz, possible exception being some of the original Kuju track textures.

Well, I think N3V will be getting some unexpected competition now that DTG will be offering their TS2019 version in 64-bit, these developers are starting to get fiesty......

Yes indeed Steve. I just treated myself to Bristol - Swansea in the flash sale and, while the Class 175 is a bland piece of modern plastic, the section of route I've driven so far looks really good. As I said in the thread in the TS section, 15 years ahead of what TANE looks like or offers in the way of sound and physics. I had a very quick play with the included Class 67 and that did impress me - slow steady acceleration and amazing sound without any intervention from Mr Armstrong!

Can't wait to take a Western or Warship on a reproduction of the 0124 Bristol TM to Milford Haven mail/sleeper/seat overnightie!
