Not a chance Rich, you might be older like me and around since MSTS hit the scene but your still a legend in the simulator industry so don't forget that!

True, true. I can't deny that.
But no, you're confusing me with Peter Finch, I think. I was in The Sundowners with Peter Ustinov and Deborah Kerr.
      I was Robert Mitchum.

That's neat of you to say Kevin, I do appreciate that. I am working on a route in Trainz now and last night I made some significant progress on it. I found a tutorial that explained a lot better how to elevate track and the guy did it without all the prattle. Just a quickie update on that.

Well, suspect I'm the only fan boi in this Forum, or at least in this thread? But I'm still having fun with Trainz (full screen / 1080p):

Well TBH apart from us old codgers and the MSTS/OR mob, TS dot com is pretty quiet these days.

Fanboy factor aside, there is merit in discussing products at the in house forums whether N3V or DTG.

As regards Trainz, I am still messing around in TRS19 with various model projects but my heart isn’t really in it these days. I haven’t even bothered to renew my First Class Ticket for the DLS, making do with the dial up speed service. Our current spell of hot weather here in the UK is also making long periods on the laptop or PC unappealing, so making do with a quick burst on TSW or the truck sims.

Hahhahahahaha, you prefer to be Mitchum, not Finch.

              Deborah Kerr, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm lush

Trainz gone, didn't even make the weekend. Lovely Australian NSW routes, but the driving experience is lousy.

Which is why I will not pay £55 quid for TRS22.

Sometimes I wonder which company has the more arrogance? N3V who in over 20 years now have continued to ignore the most basic functions of a driving sim whether a decent timetable mode or accurate physics, or DTG for their general refusal to fix broken things.

Agree 100% Vern. This forum needs a "like" button.

Vern, can't speak for Auran or whoever they are, but DTG isn't arrogant, it's just a job for most of them that they ended up with making stuff about trains. They don't really care for the details a railroad enthusiast like us has for railroading. In fact they would probably argue that they don't understand why folks like us don't 'get' that to them it's ONLY (their emphasis not mine) a game to you and a paycheck for them. It could be any subject, like underwater sea stuff, as long as it pays and they do their assignments, they get paid - that's as far as the enthusiast goes for them.

To them we don't understand their world and the complexities they have to make this stuff work on all the different kinds of computer setups there are. Not to mention its all they do, 40 hours of train stuff for five days a week.

It bothers me too that they have no regard for our decades of experience whether it being a rail enthusiast or whatever. For me personally I still find model railroading more enjoyable than this stuff. But, as a builder of routes, I do like building routes and that just might be the difference where folks like us who build, we don't see these train games the same way as those who "just" play. I think our experience is we're more disappointed we can't do more with our routes, with these clunky after-thought editors they give us. Seems to me that those who play these games are more mad that they perceive the train game developers as indifferent or tone-deaf because of the lack of attention to simulation (thought they call the things simulators).

I know for my part of this stuff that I am very tone deaf to folks who thought they had an idea for me because while building a route I never had time to even think an idea might be a good one or not. Took so long and so much energy to build a route (and I was younger in those days). Just can't do everything, you know? To me the fun is in the building of the routes not actually running it though I will say that at least my routes came with goodies whereas from what I hear all this new stuff from these train game makers don't come with hardly anything. To me that says more than anything about how they feel about their efforts.

I think the arrogance you speak of is the indifference that came about because of the uncivility of the forums, which by the way, got that way because of the disappointment and the tone-deafness of the game developers.

I've never had an issue with Trainz personally. My son still builds routes in it to this day. For me it was being too much of a perfectionist in building a route where it just lost it's shine. But neither of us have purchased the latest version.

                      Thanks

I've not purchased an Auran product since the TANE debacle. I've got 10 and 12, which I enjoyed (except searching endlessly for missing bits on their download 'service')- there were some good German and American offerings by players/builders, and I enjoyed the MP experience on MRL a bit (led me to the excellent Run 8 online experiences I had, especially on Sean's RTS SoCal system). TANE was just a mess. If Auran ever get it together and produce something good again I may consider buying. I'd rather play 'Goat Simulator' than TANE. Cheers

I hear there is a cat sim called Strayed that was on Marketwatch of all places this morning. Apparently it's the cat's meow

“Stray” is by all accounts actually very good. On my Steam wish list once I recharge the funds.
