Trainz Plus - Trainz Living Railroad

Well it wouldn't be Trainz without trying to make some continous money from it's customers. But I have to hand it to them, this Trainz Living Railroad got my attention.

I'm not sure how good it is. But having that kind of AI system if it's as good as it seems is exactly the kind of thing missing in most train simulators. The ability to allow you to run what you want that is currently available in the system without relying on you to run it or the whole system stops (or needs MP etc.).

Has anyone tried this, and is Trainz + worth the investment. I'm kind of holding out for Railroader for now but it's something I may consider for 2024.

    Thanks

Hey Sean, I did try that new living railroad thing out and it was pretty darned cool.
It was tough for me to tell what was happening under the hood -
what I mean by that is, it appeared to be almost doing what would normally be 'scripted'
If they've figured out how to do that truly dynamically, that would be pretty neat.

The example scenario takes a cut of cars in a yard, drives them to an industry, fills one car at a time, reverses, and then travels the mainline to go to a destination.
I got bored before it reached the destination but I presume it would have unloaded.

I didn't see any examples of switching out cars in a yard for example, so I don't know how deep the capabilities go, but it was impressive either way.

I can't say if it'd be worth it for you - you seem to like trains in general, so it's at minimum, a good candidate.
What I'd suggest is, there's likely a steam sale coming up in a few days, you can buy a month of Trainz+ Gold, on sale it should be like $8.
See if you like it. If you do, then you'll probably want to subscribe to it direct on Trainz Portal.

Sounds good. I'll keep a closer eye on it next year depending on how Railroader pans out.

      Thanks

I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole yet. TLR is not in a finished condition. I was beta testing it on TRS22+ but got fed up with each beta release. As it was supposed to be a TLR beta, but they were more interested in HD terrain and copy\pasting terrain, foliage etc. So i dropped out a couple of weeks back.

TLR eventually should be good, i do have to say that.
