    TRAINZ RS-2004 Route Building

Save me repeating what I just posted over in the MSTS-2 Forum, have a look at this:

    [Link Expired]

There still is not the degree of Perfection I was hoping to see in a TRAIN SIM, improving on what MSTS-1 can do. The Functionality in the Scenery and Driver Modes is great, the SURVEYOR easier to work with, but I miss the Quality and Variety of Track Systems, easy to get hold of and better organised for Route Builders by David Beach.

Despite a more advanced Graphics Engine, Quality of Display does not compare with MSTS. The first shot is from TZ-RS2004's OTTO-TEST Route and the second from the MSTS-1.1 N.&.J.C., Warbonnet from 3D-Trains. This comparison says it all.

    Trainz freeware:

    Trainz payware

Guys, forget about the content from Auran. They are low poly for better performance.
Two years ago, they had to run on a PIII 500

Thanks Guys for the informative response I knew my comments would trigger ! :7

But it's the same old story. The stuff "Out of the Box" is second rate and needs improving with better from all sorts of other sources. A lot of time and effort spent achieving it !

At the moment I am busy printing all the Manuals and searching for more in depth information Online. Will be a while before I can catch up with your expertise and knowledge of where everything is to be found ! ;-) Thanks for all the leads !!!

      Take Care, O t t o.

Not so in case of TRS2004, when you go to make your consist, select
category "Third Part XXX" XXX being country name.

You will find some very high quality content that was made by 3rd party creators and included in the game.

That's great looking track in the M41 2174 Loco picture, including the track bed. First time I have seen track connecting plates displayed in a Train Sim !

Who's Route is that and what Tracks System is being used ?

            A lot to learn Georgi ! ;-)

As always, the Manuals are not telling the whole story. If it hadn't been for Mike Vone, I would have never gotten off the ground trying to use the MSTS RE !

Can Routes be created with no Consists or Drivers, to be selected at the time of Loading it or just prior ?

UTC was like that but TRS2004 is not anymore. Instead you can use Ctrl+F2 while in Surveyor to jump right into Driver of the current session.

                  RE: TRAINZ RS-2004 Route Building

I get your point with the two F7 pics, but compare the first one to anything that came with MSTS out of the box, you're comparing default to payware. I do admit though that the no-flange, non-animated wheels look kind of strange, but there is an abundance of trains availible for download that do have these things, and a large amount of detailed, wonderful payware models out there for Trainz, although I have not come across any F7's yet...

EDIT:some pics...the comparison says it all...
