Illawarra a dls session for the route. Amazing what difference an updated cab does for immersion.
No instrument lighting in Trainz though. Still no prototypical pitch black tunnel interiors.
The route is amazing though, fair play.
Mike.
Well, I slept on it and will probably give it a miss.
That's mainly because, apart from other games I'm playing now (trains as well as a few other genre), back in my Trainz days I was spending most of my time in Surveyor.......and the creative side of things doesn't appeal nearly as much as it once did.
I'll see.....may change my mind at some point!

Those awful 2003 era cabs, which don’t even look as good as MSTS from the same time period, are one of the main factors that puts me off Trainz. I know we shouldn’t knock freeware, but every time I find the Class 47 cab complete with AWS sunflower on a non UK loco I wince. Or a Japanese centre cab diesel that aliases the F7 cab. Probably why I mainly confine my increasingly reluctant route building these days to model type projects.
Yeah generic cabs are a real turn off. These locos are payware so have custom cabs. Plus there are some identical loco's on the DLS but different liveries. That also have correct sounds and custom cab interiors. It's why i never use Trainz for UK simming. For my tastes it is fine for Aussie stuff and some North American Vern. I don't do Japanese or european railways in anything.
I watched a feature on one of our TV networks (SBS) yesterday afternoon. It is called "North To South: The Full Journey" and part of it follows a KiwiRail train from Auckland down to Wellington, New Zealand.
(A similar format to what SBS did with the Indian Pacific and also the Ghan a few years ago.)
If you get a chance then watch it because if ever there was a route which needs to be simulated it's this one.
There is a route called "Murchison" for Trainz, which I had, but is narrow-gauge and fictional.
There are a couple of Full Journey videos on YT...one 11 hours (the complete full journey) and one of 3 hours (the train section).
Problem is that they are both of low resolution.....480 and 360.
As I said...this is a route crying out for a simulation.

Sadly my eyes and fingers are too old these days to undertake such a project, the other irony being I find I have less time to spend on route building being retired than I did when working!
Murchison was quite a nice route albeit fictional but I don’t believe it has been updated to full compatibility with the latest versions of Trainz, TANE onwards.
