        there wasnt a pan am version of this loco. gp60s were later units and mainly BNSF,ATSF, MAERSK, UP, NS, SSW, SP, and a small CSX roster.

                The L is for light weight, smaller fuel tank.
                Only a few of the ones we have on Pan Am have this features. So a few are GP40-2LW's while the rest are just GP40-2W's.
